Just making up a wee panel list.
I know i need 2 new sills for certain, Im also anticipating that ill need to replace the rear subframes' front mount on the o/s (the rearward mounts now being redundant as im using the beam)
Also on the list is the turbo bulkhead
Theres really not alot on this car left from what i bought it for >_<

Thanks ba-tat!
Needless to say I dont think much before I post  this IS my thinking spot, hence why through the entire project things have changed here and there

Thanks Kcchan.

Still havent got round to ordering the panels yet nor arranging gas through work, see why this project takes so long now!

Did a few more hours today (didnt want to work too long, dont want to wind the new neighbours up so soon!)
New photobucket is still sh*te! takes forever to load anything!

Iv decided I didnt like the exhaust tunnel, The tunnel extension seemed to be created from several different sections of sheet metal... to me this just seems stupid, if you dont have access to the material to do the job propperly, dont do it at all >_<
So iv chopped out that section of the exhaust tunnel.

Here it is before
Posted Image
You can kinda see the different added in sections in the above.

A better picture, post choppage of the tunnel.
Posted Image
Tis one big hole!
Posted Image
Iv had to leave a section of the original tunnel in place as this has been used to mount the seat rail and I certainly didnt want to fiddle around with that.

I havent decided yet if im going to remake a wide tunnel or just make a standard width tunnel. Seeing as im going for an internal linkage i dont require the extra space to tuck both the exhaust and linkage up within that space.

Been trying out the new welder. Didnt think i could get away with blaiming the old welder for finding it difficult to produce some neat welds.
Iv only just now had chance to try out the new welder i bought months back, now that i have gas and its so much better. im finding it much easier. Where before i was having an absolute pig of a time to weld on a vertical surface, i now have no problem. I was able to weld up a 3mm rivit hole without using the brass slab as a heat sink and without chasing around an ever largening hole.

So i still need to order my panels, but im working down Bristol way most of next week... think i'll just order them to work and pick them up when i get back there :D

Rather happy. Tomorrow ill start creating some patch panels, maybe re-welding some of the awefully welded rollcage

I asked my work mate if he would store them safely if they arrive before im back, so it shouldnt be a problem

Done a reasonable amount today.
I started off by going over some of the rollcage joins which i thought looked a bit iffy.
cranked the voltage right up to ensure there was good penitration through the material that was already welded.
Some of the joins will need looking at when its flipped back onto its base and on the other side, also some of the welds will still want a little dressing but nothing like they were before (even found seam sealer in 1 or 2 joins... disgusting!!)

After that i set about looking at the front triangulation, upto the cross member, i had noticed how some of the holes were welded fully.
Quite annoying to find that but at least its getting sorted now.

So, for the pictures, below shows the lack of welding.
Posted Image
The picture shows the dash bar and the top bar of the footwell triangulation which then joins to the bulkhead spreader plate (this plate was also not welded in sufficiently. I have since welded it, but didnt snap a picture)

Posted Image
Pretty difficult to get a continious weld given the space i was working through, but managed to get quite good coverage, importantly all the way round!

Posted Image
The above is another part of the footwell triagulation, this has also been welded now. After all the footwell triagulation bars were fully welded up I set about patching up the inner wings where i had cut access holes aswell as plating the fresh air vent.
Posted Image
Plate made up and held in place
Posted Image
All welded in, ground down and then flap wheeled smooth. Its mostly level. Im happy enough with it.

Posted Image
So I also then plated a few of the other remaining holes, didnt get round to doing the lot but its nice to start adding metal into the shell rather than taking it away for once!
Anywho, i think im going to add a bit more to the panel list, maybe a new scuttle under panel thingy, cant remember what they're called but mini spares will tell me haha.
The door post will get a patching too
More progress later in the week i hope!
