Hopefully get the rear arches chopped out next weekend though and then can start welding the boot floor and arches back together.
Need to see about getting some CDS/T45 for the cage modification soon... and find someone to weld it in >_< because i dont want something as vital as that resting on my inexperience in tube welding.
In the mean time I can then start doing the front end
Now that im project planner at work I might create a timeline project plan for the car  ill just make sure i leave the budget section empty!

Got round to doing more chopping today. Not alot done as I was called on for some general house stuff 1st... bhaa
(also new photobuckets difficult to use.. more bhaa!)
Anywho, had a bash at the rear arches today, quite simple i guess
Start with the really haggard side...

Now you see it
Posted Image
Now you dont. Along with a section of rollcage... so thats me commiting to cutting the back 1/2 the cage about now and replacing haha

Iv started to install the turrets onto the new arches before i weld them in place. Thought it might be a little easier for me while off the car.
No pictures of this at the moment (apart from the one above in the background) because it was a touch dark, just a random back snap

You can change the photobucket back to the old one - there's a link somewhere on the website ^^

I gotta still be at it otherwise it will just be a lump of metal sat in the garage depressing me... more than it is already. Taken far too long

Cant find the ol' switch on PB... i might complain... or move everything to another hoster

Got on the ol' arches today. Actualy went ok and didnt just feel like a pain in the arse taking up my time for once!
Even though im aching after snowboarding last night

Bit of a step by step, because im bored now!

Posted Image

1st cut out the arches on the marked lines

Posted Image

Leaving enough room to bend out some weld edges

Posted Image

Long reach clamps are really useful here!

Posted Image

Spot welded up in place.... was seam welded after as you can see further down

Posted Image

Decided the inside wanted a bit of a seam welding after the outside was completed

Posted Image

The cleaner metal on the left welded much nicer

Posted Image

Not the prettiest but its strong and penitrated well

Posted Image

Bit of dressing of the welds as i wanted it to look nice

Posted Image

Offered up for tonight, but didnt want to crack on for now

Posted Image

Again, offered up from the inside. Cage will mount to the shock mounts on top.

Posted Image

Some pics against normal arches, raised up a touch to lower the car more

Nice mod on those arches mate l8ooks heavy duty although the shocker have to extend further now when little traction is achieved ? (Tripod  )
Also grad to see some out in the cold craking on, I however am using the excuse of painting my radius arms in the house because the paint wont dry in the cold :D ;D .

Now what else can i paint

Yes, its to allow me to run better coilover suspension than offset ones which are usualy available. That said i do have some offset protecs if i need them.
I dont really need any extra suspension droop but raising the arch will allow to go lower with a standard shock (the protecs i previously mentioned)

Yes its quite miserable outside at the moment, working at the foot of the garage welding and grinding it doesnt feel so cold in reality. Not quite at the paint phase myself. haha
