They look truly amazing

I've just put a set of 10x5 of these on my car as my slicks are dead, I'm so tempted to send them away now ;):):)

Are these going on a new project or the clubby?

theres no "new" project...just what this car which was originaly a rally car has evolved from. keeping minis in motorsport isnt particualy easy and still be succesful...so rather than selling it on to someone else, seeing as iv spent a bunch of money on this car fixing all its previous problems im keeping it for myself, to use how i fancy...
Things are changing ;)

my clubby which is sat in my garage currently is a 1098 raynard bronze thing, i had as a daily driver couple years back till the g'box failed. Iv rebuilt the engine and soon be ready to sell giving this car (ex-rally car) space in the garage.

to be honest i wasnt gona show people the wheels there till i had finished the cars re-fit but i like the look of the wheels so much i couldnt help showing them off ;) as i said thought, not sure when they will see the car though. When i get this car in the garage theres a fair amount of work i want to carry out. I could take a couple of small short cuts which wouldnt be a major hassle but its probably not worth it. But it does mean it will be more expensive in the meantime :( (or :) depending how you look at it!)

;)

annodised black outter rims, split to 6.5"
green inners (only outter face) rest of the rims going black sprayed

although there not finished, i ran out of green... so iv gotta get some more, layer them up a few more times, then laqure... then just go ahead and bolt them up together.

when i start on the car, well who knows...gotta finish up the clubby before i can chuck that outside then get this one in the garage, up on stands and hammer on with the rest of it

These make me frough at the gash.

Mmmm split rims!! Out of interest how much air flow to you get into the cab with your poly slider windows....is it a case of sweating like a fat lass in a phonebox on a hot day?

air flow thru the windows isnt particualy great. just driving round, as long as both windows are open its bearable... When i was driving flat out for any length of time when i had my nomex fireproofs on its so very hot, the exhaust heats up the floor something cronnic too...
its not so hot u feel like ur going to pass out though, just warm...need to get a new set at some point though

The wheels look spot on, are you going to do what you wre saying on TM about the coilovers without the rear beam?

for now, not likely...its on the drawing board though....what im going to do for now is hack this subframe apart and use it for a while. In one of the units at work someone is moving in who does cage bending etc etc, so im going to make myself some custom arms to which ill mount directly to the shell.
mainly just because i will then be able to get it rolling sooner this way using a cut subby, plus the guy hasnt moved in yet.

the arms (who knows when ill get round to it) will be T45 or something depending what im recomended... just gotta take a look at some arms and my design and work out how i want to mount the sub-pin and still allow use of the coilovers.

must get round to buying bits! ;)

Fair enough, its a cool idea and it will save even more than a rear beam which will be good, i look forward to seeing that. It wasn't till i picked up my rear subframe complete today, that i decided i needed a rear beam and coil overs, so heavy! Still not sure whether to get gaz or protec yet though. also do you know the weight difference between normal and a rear beam set up?

naa, i dont know the weight difference....but i wanted to get rid of the arms at some point in favour of something exotic.
what im tempted to do at the same time is ditch old fashoned rear drums...may aswell sack off the mechanicle hand brake at the same time seeing as i have a hydraulic hand brake, i can fit a locking mechanism to that (alot like there is on the new fiesta R2 were building at work)
That will allow me to run a couple of dinky cailipers anyway, even more weight down...seeing as the car is only used occasionaly i can cope without a real mechanicle hand brake as long as i can still lock the hydraulic one

oh and, advise protech from what iv seen on mine

Hmm i'll have to get some scales then, some strong ones tto. It must weight 35-40kg easy. I would like some kad arms but for the cost some tubular steel ones are deff another possible side project, hopefully yours will give me some inspiration.

Also I like the idea of the hyro handbrake but i always thought you had to have a mechanical handbrake as well on a road car. And i'll have to have a think about the coilovers as they both have a good rep.

yeah, i always thought you had to have a mechanicle means...you probably do, but the R2 kit supplied by M-sport doesnt use the machanicle...theres no way for the callipers to mount them anyway!
but i have a friendly MOTer anyway so its no biggy

well...its worth me trying to make some tubular arms before splashing out on KAD's who knows if i get the design good i could always flog em

I don’t think that’s quite true, as far as I know you do need a back up form of braking (normally the handbrake) but as long as its separate from the main braking system it doesn’t really matter if its cable operated or not.

Thats alrite then, some mot guys are very picky. i'm a little worried about my fibreglass boot floor after some peoples trouble. And you can put me down for a set.

EDIT: i guess the best place to go to find out about the hand brake would be the drifting forum driftworks or something, as i'm still sure it needs to be mechanical.

DOUBLE EDIT: http://www.driftwork...w-legality.html

Only really heard of the boot floor thing once over on TM... I'm not too fussed, not really fussed about much though  the car doesn't have quite a few things anyway, doesn't have washers, hazzard lights, the ability to flash my lights lol
will be fibreglassing my boot and boot floor anyway and it won't be coming out when iv fitted it either
just want the car finished!
