been over to southam today.

they luckily said that see no problem that the crank should go again aswell as the flywheel. Will need a new ring gear as i said but thats cool because i wanted one :P
then ill take off the high points on the crank and lap the flywheel on and all should be peachy. The reason that its fretted is apparently the torque value quoted in the haynes isnt high enough :)| apparently 170 is the value to aim for...tad confused but hey.

anyway i was like...err i want more power, bigger valves please and he was like hmm well you could do with re-shaping the chambers aswell, if you pop back wednesday ill have a quote for you...at that point i knew my wallet was getting lighter :genius: hope its not more than i can afford because i re-heeeearly want more power. Rod suggested i didnt go above a 300 degree cam due to the final drive, which is already a 3.7 but will see...will do some research, when im driving im not usualy in alot of traffic and its only pulling away till in on power band i have to worry about it and the megajolt should settle things a tad more than a dizzy

But if you're going turbo in the next year why not save the money off a new 300 cam and put it in the turbo fund :genius:.

its always nice to take off your shock mount and find solid metal...it of course has been strengthened previously anyway but still :)

Posted Image

came off no problem...made me smile

Posted Image

didnt come off so free :) snapped every single bloody bolt....urgh, lucky that you can get nuts behind so im going to throw a drill through the holes and either tap them out or sneek up nuts behind and bolt through that way.

inner arch cleaned up quite nice too also

its not so bad :) used to drill out at least 1 bolt a day when i was working with turbos, the heat cycles they go through mean they just snap when you come to take them apart...only difference is my drill and bits at home arent as good as when i was working :) might have to invest lol

must remember...less haste

spent the afternoon de-greasing the subframe and bulkhead then thought id just chop the inner wings a tad more.

they now look like

Posted Image

problem is that i attached the plates for the bonnet pins to the scuttle and inner wings. I also need to make a bracket to support the wings, will help them fit better i hope...so will just be a more complecated bracket now

Posted Image

glad i was wearing my overalls today! the wire wheel attachment which has previously tore into my hand tried to bite me again today, snatched the bulkhead and flicked towards my leg, luckily it wrapped up in the overalls before it bit tore into my leg

UJ usually used for internal gear linkage.
Could also be used in steering column.

ah that didnt last long :D thought some clueless might just come along with some funny guesses.

certainly not large enough for the steering column though

its a tiny bit too small but thats alright, its 1/2 inch ID so will need a slight file on the shaft but should be a big deal.

plans later are custom exhaust so with it being internal ill be able to get the exhaust made to sit reet up high.

Edit: actualy know what...put my clever head on, completly daft of me to spend money on the head when in the future im going to want to go even bigger inevetably and till im earning i wont be able to do that.
So for now its going to stay "slow" It would be stupid for me to spend money right away when it still drives alright and well. When im earning moneys ill decide the propper route ill take, but i know for sure its not going to be cheap haha.

If i was going to spend money right now, it would be going on some suspension parts

still getting my flywheel sorted as i quite fancy the reliability haha

sun managed to break through today, ace!

so managed to get a bit done

Posted Image

this is what my inner wings look like now

then i put seam sealer along the bulkhead line, blend it in a tad better then...

Posted Image

all primed up, looks alot better in one colour i think

Posted Image

all painted in gloss black...showing all the little faults

Posted Image

from the other side, inner wheel arches painted up, again one colour much better i think :D

i spent ages cleaning the transmission housing, taking off flakes of paint n all, also cleaning the clutch housing.

then cleaned the engine, de-greased it all and gave it a coat in black paint, was much better than the gashtacular red/grey/rust/brown/oil...didnt get a pic of it today, maybe when its all back together or something :dozing:

3 days and already page 2? its like people do stuff on bank holidays!

just one or 2 useful pics right now but shows most of what iv done

Posted Image

Posted Image

on saturday i cant really remember fully what i did :P but i know i painted the subframe, nice and one colour black now, neater again which i like.
also painted some brackets...all gone black, starting to think theres going to be too much black haha.

re-routed my brake lines, my N/S braded line needs to be cut down...because 1. its too long and 2. i cocked up.... i had my earth clamp of the welder on the suspension and didnt realise the over brade was resting against the earth, so the internal nylon tube melted itself...the brade does a very good job of keeping fluid in...untill you re-assemble your pedal box and press the brake...when it squirts out where ever it fancys :gimme:
lucky enough new olives for the fittings arent too expensive at all and with the material im cutting it down by i have more than enough excess braded line to fix my ******* up...yay

as you can see anyway its all going back together now, running out of things to do so tomorrow i guess ill start putting the engine back together
