im also thinking ill need custom exhaust manifold to mate to the Gt17 i have planned, then also custom down pipe and possibly back section (thats the bit i can see taking most time really!)

my mates halfway through making a manifold for a gt17 without bulkhead mods, he currently runs a mirage setup with a hybrid T2. It's definately not the easiest of things to do thats for sure, so good luck chap :(

I found making my oil drain the most time consuming when doing my GT20, the turbo elbow was pretty straightforward and the rest of the exhaust is just std type stuff.

ahh right, i would have thought it would need to be over sized as you dont need to worry about the pressure post turbo.

not really bothered about bulkhead mods :( got a mig bulkhead in there anyhow.

i keep changing my mind now tho, might put off the turbo for another year, gives me time to seek propper bargins... main reason i still think i can push the current spec a little bit more by just righting some faults... for what iv got im not too happy about only getting a 15.9 1/4

while my minis still mobile i can mock up a manifold throughout the year anyways as iv got a spare head sitting un-used.

in that case just stick the GT17 on a metro manifold with an adapter plate, so much easier!

sweet, may well do that, dont have to decide yet as i think im going to hold off for a while still, but i can start gathering parts soon.

anyway, just been out and took apart the engine, bearings and everything dont look too bad, not fantastic but will go again for sure.

upon removing the flywheel iv noticed markings on the tail from where it must have fretted slightly...probably the odd noise i was noticing. Its welded its self on at the very edge on one side, it should be savable tho, aswell as the flywheel, ill get some pics up later in any case for a 2nd oppinion.
monday going to pop over to southam mini metro centre see what they recomend.

while the engines out too im just going to smarten the engine bay up some more, give it a clean up and a lick of paint

and when i took off the timing chain i found something a bit worrying...could have gone rather wrong!

also...i forgot to say, the reason i took the engine apart was to look at the condition of the pistons as to why iv dropped 50 psi on cyl 2, luckily there doesnt seem to be any problems and everythings looking peachy :) which means unless i have to start spending moneys may well be able to go back together soon.

got an inchy wallet tho!

inertia starters getting sacked off now, was crap and i think part to do with the starting/turning over issue plus to shear off teeth, what a load of rubbish.

yeah, kinda forgot the lock tab but its not exactly under much stress, ill still be putting it on when i reassemble.

and yeah, not a chance of hearing the noise over the SC's i heard a random noise before but doubt would be the tensioner as it was a squeeking noise from that end

The flywheel on the 25 is starting to go the same way although not as bad, might be something to do with the starter motor? As the mayfairs one with the later starter still looks like new.

as i said, the starters getting changed from inertia to pre engaged. my old starter was pre engaged and the ring gear was perfect, the tail was however buggered hence i had to get this one. Accidently, southam ordered me an inertia one and thats why it was changed...bit annoying really
