Has anyone else seen this R1 engined front wheel drive mini at the Exeter kit car show? Miniexvo or something it was called.
The guy there said it had no chains in the drive and had a special transfer box to drive the front wheels through the bike gearbox. It sounded awsome, was road legal and all fitted in an unmodified round nose mini shell
150 bhp 0-60 sub 5 secs must go like a rocket !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This looks very interesting if the kit prices aren't too expensive, this might become one popular conversion... at least I'd like to have one.. lol

If it's based on a Quaife box it won't be cheap at all!

Forgot my camera so I could not get any pics but its the same car as on the web site.
I know its not a quafe box as someone asked the guy while I was there so it must be something special.

hmm that looks very interesting, ive just sent them an email asking when they hope to have some prices, according to the development on their website theyve clocked up a few miles with no problems at the moment...

Thank you for your interest in MINIeXvo.

At present we are testing the prototype and hope to be able to offer the conversion as a bolt in kit in the first half of next year (conversions in our workshop will be available earlier).

The kit will fit in a standard Mini shell with the only modification needed being the removal of the strut between the slam panel and the front valance panel. It also uses the original Mini Subframe.

It is difficult to give a price at this time. Obviously the prototype was very expensive to produce as a one off, but manufacturing a small batch greatly reduces the price per unit. We are at present talking to manufactures and should have clearer information before Christmas (although hopefully sooner!).

by the way. Have anyone with bike engined mini had clutch problems? Just wondering because Mini weights so much more than a bike...

your prob best asking in the z cars section as they are all bike engined, i think that the clutches cope tho but dont quote me on that!

clutches seem fine as long as the gearing isnt too tall thats when you'l burn it out trying fast starts mines spins the wheels in most gears without trying and thats with my plate diff so its both wheels
the clutch is very light on mine not like a tuned a seies and it so easy to drive in traffic just have to be careful as it revs so fast can look silly revving the nuts off it when you dont want to lol

Ok, thanks. I've been reading the Zcars section and for my surprise there has been next to none complaints on how often there has been engine failures. I thought that there would be at least some clutch problems if nothing else
