Love the project, Would you be REME perchance.

nope I'm not REME

I had a pop over to pitstop rolling road and had a chat to them today neil. They wanted to know what the twin carbs were off before?? They said they can get it running good for us but might need new springs. Did you replace them and the needles when you rebuilt them??

The carbs came of a Mk 3 cooper s, I replaced the needles for M's (there the rich running ones for those carbs) I did not replace the springs. Get them to do what it needs and i'll paypal you some money. Any chance you can find out what dizzy is fitted to it to, gonna order lekky ignition for it.

Cheers fella.

Good stuff mate. They might want to change the needles but will chat to them about it first. feels to me like they might need to change the springs as the throttle is sticking on a bit when at idle sometimes and the cable is loose enough it shouldn't do this. Will see what I can find out about the dizzy.

Tell me about it. Managed to get the headlights fitted today to get all the holes done. Got some new bonnet pins for securing the front down so will have a go at that tomorrow. Just so cold and windy it's hard to do any work. Will try and get the lights wired up tomorrow too.

Lookig good, I understand your obviously improving it by striping it, but i think the old White Front end and Blue body went quite well lol. Just my opinion.

I did think about that for a little while. One day I think i'll do a two tone paint job with one on the front and one on the back but i'll be crossing over the middle of the car. If you get what i'm on about (sometimes I don't :ermm: )

Progress. I fitted some new bonnet pins to secure the front down and also fitted the locating bush things that you get with the hinges for some extra support. Last thing I want is to be blatting down some country lane and the front flips up :) Only thing I need to do is make the hole the pin goes through a bit bigger to aid in getting it lined up better.

All good apart from this dam dam dam weather. Check out my garage/tent

working on securing the front down a bit more today. I didn't like the dzeus fastners I had on my old front as i thought they were a bit crappy to look at so am making life hard for myself again. Keeping the wing clean of any clips on the outside i have used rubber bonnet clips. You can see the bit they attatch to on the inside of the wing meaning the outside is left clean.

I'm in the process of making some guide pieces that locate the wings to the a-panels and help keep the wing from moving out past the line of the a-panel.

Lookin good fella. I'm home in just over 3 weeks so will come round to have a look (and to steal my mini back) Are those clips on the inside of the wing gonna be stron enough just rivited or have you fiberglassed them to??

Please have your car back before i burn it :proud: Yeah the clips don't have too much pressure on them. they are there mainly to hold the wings with the a-panel so just a little extra secure. Your car has not been RR'd yet as I'm away. Will be popping into Kandahar from next tuesday so keep and eye out. I'll wave as we taxi past.

Got my spot lights through today. Wanted something a bit bigger and different to the usual spot lights so got some of these bad boys. Gonna mount them in the grille. Now I didn't know whether to do 2 or 4. Gonna leave it at 2 for now.

Being new to welding can I weld this metal housing??? I'm gonna cut them down so they don't take up so much room behind. If not is it a bad idea to use fiberglass as I'm sure these will run very hot very quick and heat and fiberglass don't really mix too well.
