Haha that's true mate. It was good today, my new horn and welding mask turned up so on with jobs.

I got the exhaust all welded up with the new flex joint in. I also though I might as well get a skid plate on it as the last one wore through on speed bumps as the car sits so low. Here is what I ended up with. It's only welded at the front so not to effect the flex and movement it has.

Posted Image

Also welded in my silencer section so looking forward to starting the car and hearing how it sounds. Should bring it down by about 6 - 8 DB so will be more usable. Then I wrapped the manifold again and got it all fitted to the car. Need to get it on some ramps to get under the car and get some supports on it but she's on for now.

Got the water pump fitted (cheers KAM) and timing belt back on. All the covers back on and filled it with some coolant. Am gonna run it up like this a few times get the coolant mixed all around then drain it to get rid of any crap and fill it with more coolant and some de-ionised water to look after things more as the pump failing is not what i want ever year. The rad is only on in a temp position as I need a few more 90deg pipes to make it sit right. Then suppose I'll see if the front fits back on

Cheers Spence. Yeah it's coming along. Did my first welding repair for a friends car for the mot. Went all right. I don't like welding around rusty metal though, not much fun. I was gonna get the car started today but I got a touch of man flu so thought I'd stay in the warm and get over it before the rugby tomorrow. feel free to pop over next week and see me hard at work

Going well so far. I have fitted the bung and the Ford DIS coil pack for the ecu. Have also started to find all the wires I need to get the ecu fitted. It's a bit of a mission at the moment but coming along slowly with Spence helping me out. Making sure I don't stress out and cut all the wires up and run away.

and wires being labelled up near the connectors ready to be spliced into the new loom

See what tomorrow brings. Have to call up OMEX and ask a few questions I have on the what wires go to which part of certain connectors as the wiring diagram doesn't say.

Also had some bad times with the pulley wheel. They sent through the wrong one to start with so I called back and he's sending me out one with all pulley belts runs on it. but when I unwrapped it and it looks like the delivery company dropped it as two teeth were smashed off. But a quick call to Watsons and another one is on it's way. That's service for you.

New pulley wheel has arrived and fitted. It came the day after I called Geoff at Watsons so he is dam quick when it comes to getting stuff out to people. Have spent the last two days trying to get rid of as much wiring as possible out from the Honda loom so when it comes to fitting the OMEX loom it'll be as clean and neat as possible so not to confuse things. The birds nest of wires I made in the passenger foot well has finally gone.

Posted Image

Just a few more bits to sort out then that'll be good to go. All connectors labelled and lots of wire removed. Hope the install goes smoothly as I have a head full of wire colours and connector labels.

I have a few questions regarding the omex set up if anyone has used it before.

First off I'm wanting to wire in my standard lambda sensor for now and the wiring diagram as usual with the Honda is pap so with the OMEX I have

sensor out, sensor earth, Heater(+12v switched) and heater earth.

But with the Honda I have

Sensor earth, earth, primary heater O2 and primary O2 sensor heater control.

Does anyone know what wire goes to what when I splice the new loom in. If you need colours I can get you them but it's so not clear to me at the moment.

Also a question regarding the VTEC side of things. I am going to run the solenoid on AUX OUT 2. But do I need to have any extra AUX inputs for it to run VTEC or will it do it all off the original OMEX ecu loom?

Raining too much today to be outside working on the car. So thought I'd get the loom prep finished. Went to maplins today and got a diode for the idle motor. OMEX gave me the exact number diode and I went and got it along with some extra stuff to help the install. Soldered the diode to the wiring on a board to help support the set up. Warning soldering is too fiddly for me to make look nice. Should do the job though

the diode

arse end

In it's support box

All taped up ready to go

Then linked in my aux loom to the main plug. Lots of wires :)
Posted Image

Right all I need is for it to stop raining and tomorrow it's on with the install.

No rain yay so on with the wires. I got the loom into the car first off. Then I could cut down the wires to the size I needed.

Posted Image

Some excess wire for you.

Posted Image

Got the rough position of everything

Posted Image

Then took it back out of the car and loomed the bad boy up.

Posted Image

Back into the car and staring to connect the plugs. I'm using aircraft grade splices to get a good connection between plug wires and loom.

Posted Image

Now tomorrow I can finish off the connectors if the weather holds out and look at conencting some power to the ecu. If I get chance cut and re-weld the crank sensor bracket and get that fitted too.

Also today I ordered some more pipe work for the rad set up and got the new HT leads on order so looking to seeing those.

The wiring is taking a lot of time but is getting there. I put some power on it today to check some connections and where power was going to and it didn't blow up so that's a good start. Weather has been good today so got the car out and then had room to play with the crank sensor bracket. If you don't know it's the bracket from Watsons but it's not really designed for the Allspeed frame so need a bit of chopping to clear the suspension arm bolt.

So went from this

Posted Image

to this

Posted Image
Posted Image

Now letting it dry and will fit tomorrow. Called OMEX and sorted out the wires for the Lambda sensor and also that they say I don't need the speed sensor to run the engine. Not sure if I need it for VTEC but will get to that when it's running. The car has another birds nest but it's not as bad as before and I still need to tidy it all up so not there for long.

Well the wiring as almost compete. I have just got a laptop of a mate and so tomorrow will load on a map to the ecu and see what happens. Today I fitted the crank sensor bracket and wired it in. tried taking a pic but it's a little tight as always to get a camera in there but you get the idea. Anyone else with this, is the sensor supposed to be at such an angle to the wheel. I though it should be more square onto the teeth myself. might just be clearance problems with the fame.

not too bad and I'm not the best at electrics. label everything up. All the wires on your new loom and then any plug you take off the engine label too. I traced all my wires in the Honda loom back to the ecu to get which ones were power, sensor earth and so on. Labelled each individual wires from them and was a good record when it came to reconnecting. If you get stuck or have any questions post em up and I'll try and help :xxx:

Fair play to you Chris for tackling the wiring again, people think I'm mad changing my engine and front end but I think thats kids stuff compared with me trying to break into the wiring loom again - and my one is a pre-made loom with very minimal wires!!!! :proud:

Not sure how you managed it, probably just common sense and all that but kudos is definitely being thrown your way from here :(

Nice work mate
