Nice one Chris, finally you'll have a proper working ecu.......and vtec :)

Your rad is pretty much the same size as mine so the 12" will be fine for it as thats what I got, if you want to see the difference in size check out page 10 on mine, posts 137 and 144

Using that DIS will free up a bit more room now, but you might need to change your HT leads if they are the normal honda ones as you need some with the clips on the ends to hold it in place on the coil pack, mine kept coming off at around 90  or speedhumps and then the inevitable misfre......pull over.....pop it back on and carry on.....gets a bit tedious after a while and thats just quickly lifting the bonnet so not sure how your gonna cope with a whole flip front each time..... :D

If you got some magnecor ones on already you can send them back and they change the ends for you for around 20 notes, you need the ford 1st generation ones like this CLICKY or you can buy some leads like I did from CLICK ME just tell the guy you got a honda engine in a mini with a ford mondeo coil pack and he'll know exactly what your on about as he's done a few now, can't remember how much they were??? maybe around 40 or 50 notes?? well worth it though mate

Sorry forgot to add, remember the crank sensor bracket is made for the Watsons frame so it hits the top arm nut on our frames

Posted Image

Posted Image

So you'll need to chop a main bit off

Posted Image

Then "adjust as necessary" as I call it so clears fine, don't worry about the bracket loosing strength, its only holding a lightweight sensor

Posted Image

Its a bit fiddly to put in place and tighten up with the engine in but you should be fine, just be careful when you next take the engine out as when you initially lift it and it starts to swing about, the bolt on the end (which adjusts the gap for the crank) will head scarily close to the frame, and you don't want to bend that bolt...

**Also**

Theres no torque setting for the bolts on the bracket so thread lock them

Sweet work mate. I will get on that when it arrives. Not been out and done much this past week as i had work and the pub called so loud. I did get a letter from the posty that i needed to go up and sign for something. Cool I though it's my ecu. But no it ended up being just my VIN plate. All it's got stamped on it is the chassis number. I though it would have more on it than that but it'll do. At least the car will be legal if I get pulled as I'm sure they don't like there being no plate at all.

Good day today. The Honda has gone :) finally. It's been playing on my mind as just one more thing needed doing so today we finally got rid. Filled it up with scrap I got hold of and the shell weighed in at 0.94T so got £155 for it. Not bad. Better than I thought I'd get. Cheers to Spenner for the trailer. It may be a bit wobbly but she did the job. It was a mission to get it on the trailer as I really could of done with a fork lift but we persuaded it to get on in the end.

Posted Image

On and ready to go.

Posted Image

Then we got about quarter of a mile and had to stop to re-wire the damb light board as all the wires got pulled out.

Posted Image

But after that it was all fine and got lifted to the scrap metal pile in the sky.

Then when I got home I got to have a look and play with all this loverly stuff.

Posted Image

Still waiting on the stuff from watsons but get to have a look at the OMEX ecu and see what it's gonna take to get it wired up. Here is my VIN plate. Looks a bit sparse to me.

Posted Image

Cheers KAM for all your replies on your thread. I will get on it and sort the stuff out. If I can't get a new throttle cable sorted I'll just keep running this one till it goes.

But today not so good. I got out and took the timing belt off and then the water pump to see why it was leaking. I have a new seal ready to go on it but when I took it off I found that the impeller was not attached to the shaft that's rotated by the belt wheel any more.
Posted Image
This was letting water down and out the drain hole. Also I think this was causing some of the overheating issues when it was dying as it would of been spinning less and less. Have contacted the guys I got it off to see what they think and if they can replace it for me as they ain't that cheap.

Also whilst I had the cam cover off I had a good look around to see if anything had come loose causing that noise. Everything looked to be there and in it's place. Only thing I noticed which I think I have seen before was a strange hole. looks like it could be from manufacture or there could be deeper issues.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Might be nothing and me just being paranoid cause of that noise.

Looking Good! Nice Project would love to Vtec mine someday :)

Although I think you should blur your VIN digits out, as it wouldnt take much to clone your car, with this and your reg number on display! :P

cheers Midas Mk1 I did think about doing it but then never did for some reason. All done now.

Paul that would be cool if you could have a quick gander. I don't think it's much as I don't think there is anything under there that can make a hole.

Went and got my bits for the exhaust today. Got me a silencer part and also a better flex link as the one I had was naff.

Posted Image
Posted Image

He also gave me a few bits for adding on to make it fit including a 2" ID pipe so I can use it as a clamp section. Went to get it all welded up tonight but not only did I run out of gas for the welder at the second squeeze of the trigger but after I went and got some more I came back and realised the lens on my welder had got moisture in it and i couldn't see anything so have just ordered a new one. When that arrives I'll get it all welded up nice and put back on.

Not been my best few days I'll give you that

That hole in the head is fine mate, there is another one in the same place over on the cambelt side, they are just where there is very little material left there after casting, probably about 2mm, if you shine a torch you can see. So they have just cut it out to save it (possibly) cracking under stress, it also creates another oil gallery aswell. Both my heads have them

As for your water pump.......interesting..... >_<

I'm sure I bought mine from the link you gave me at time when you bought yours? Autodynamics

I've just quickly whipped the water pumps off both mine, b16 on left and b18 on right

Posted Image

My b16 looks exactly like yours after 2000 miles but the impeller is still on there tight! strange how your one came off......

On the right is the b18 one, same as yours, you can see the only main difference is the seal (which sits inside the pump) where it kinks on the b16, but the pumps are interchangeable. If you look on your block the mating area for the pump seal is flush so its neither here or nor there about the kink above

Also it looks like the belt and pump had been changed quite recently on my b18, the pump is still in pretty good condition like the belt so if you don't get anywhere with your enquiry and just want to get the car back on the road then you can have this one for mates rates, I'll be getting a new one anyone. Whether you re-use this one or not I would put a bead of sealant on the seal when fixing it back on

And no, its not been a good few days for you, wasn't you ever told there would be days like this?

At least your finding solutions to the problems though

cheers me lovelies. I got the same response on 16v. They said the same about the hole. Think as things were starting to get stressy I looked into things a bit much. Knew I'd seen it before so all is good.

As for the pump cheers for the pics Kam. Your new one from the B16 does look like mine, a bit rusted but no where as clean as the one off your B18. I have contacted the guys we bought them off and have had a reply saying that out the batch I had they have not had anyone come back to them with a problem yet. they wanted more info on what coolant I'm using, who fitted it and what kind of mileage it has done. So have sent them a load of pics and info and will see tomorrow what I get back. If no joy them I probably will have your pump off you Kam if your sure you don't want it. Fingers crossed I can get a new one sent through from them.

Had a note through the door from good old postie. The stuff has come from watsons so will have to collected it on Friday if they can't deliver as I'm in work tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the stuff. Then it's a case of getting my head around this wiring diagram and get cracking

Its coming off anyway as I'm getting a new one, so I'll put it aside, if you don't end up needing it then no biggie. Not sure what mileage you had on yours but mine was around 2000 and I even tried 'prising' it gently but it wouldn't budge, can't say I have ever heard of an impeller coming off before?

Seems like xmas for you again eh? all these nice bits through the post!

And are you gonna have to re-route the bottom hose on the new rad?

There can't be that much room now at the bottom as its sitting up against the box?

Kam me old buddy I will have that pump off you. I'll PM you in a bit just let me know how much you want. I'm still working on getting a new one but they are trying their best not to give one away.

My stuff came through from Watsons plus I got all the plug connectors I needed as they didn't come through at first. I also bought a relay bank so I can have them all nice and tidy and in one place. One thing I need to chat to Watsons about is the pulley they sent though only had one place for a belt. The one I sent had three. I want at least two on it in case in the future I want to fit power steering or something.

Posted Image

I also spent a bit of last night and labelled up all the wires I need on the new loom. The only thing I'm not too sure on is weather I need an Idle Air Bypass wiring up. It says about idle motors? If anyone has done this before do I need to connect these or are they already part of the car and this is for a carb set up or something?
