well progress has been slow due to work but I must now pull my finger out as it's only a few weeks till the Riv Run and I will be going. So today i went and got the sheet metal for the bulkhead, the paint to make it all nice and a few bits. Used the missus car and went up to the mini. Then realised I had forgoten my car keys so I left it all there and will go back tomorrow. I'm starting to try and sort out the wires, getting them cut down to a decent size and ready to go up behind the dash. Will start to make the bulkhead box when that is sorted. Then it's out with the engine, clean and spray. Engine back in and off to get suspension set. Then she's on the road It all sounds so easy on the write up but I'm sure it'll not be. Here are some up to date pictures. I have made the Polo G40 rad fit. Used blue silcone hoses and just need to add a filler cap and that's all good. The front fits over it but I'm gonna struggle to fit a grille. But will worry about that later. Have scratched the nice rocker cover but will get that sorted. Hopefully some progress tomorrow Oh and the broom will be removed before road use

Can't wait to see it in the flesh you have to get it ready for the Riv Run. When you driving down? some of us SMAC are driving down on Saturday.

What do you mean you made it fit? What did you do to it!

apart from shouting at it alot i sacraficed the grille space to push it across a bit and get it away from the wheel. Looks like it should do the job.

mdickson : I'm going down on the sat too. Will be going down with a few from Swindon but were not planning anything and just gonna see how we go. Am sure we'll meet up at some point

The engine is out! Did it by myself and was not that hard to do. Took some measurments and have a rough idea about the bulkhead size. Just needed to get all the stuff out the way to get a better understanding of it all. Tomorrow will be cleaning up the steering rack, giving the servo bracket a final trim and paint, maybe looking at cleaning up the mini loom and also sorting some box work out. My welder guy that was gonna help is off ill so might have to claim someone else to do it but will see. Hope it don't hold me up though.

Great day today. Went in to do a few things nothing major. Had a chat with one of my mates in the club who's a good welder and the end result is this. From nasty big hole:


to a nice shiney bulkhead box




It's 90% done but we had to leave as we had other plans but it's gonna get finished next week after I finish shift. It's made from stainless steel and is dam strong. Got thicker metal we're using to box out the crossbar section and it'll be stronger than before. So when that's done it'll be prep the rest of the bulkhead, weld up a few holes I don't need then slap some paint on it You can see in the last picture where I finally got around to finishing off the ends to the inner wings. We found a bit of rust in there and had to add some new metal but it's all good now.
I also got some paint on bits that needed it and they look nice so it's all coming together

I fitted a new fuse box to the mini loom today, Cleaned out everything I think I don't need (soon see) and the looms are nearly ready for fitting. Got rid off all the crappy in line glass fuses. I hate them with a passion.

Well to be honest i think you have ruined it mate think you should put the A series back in! Shel i collect the honda engine and frame etc on Tuesday and save you the hassel of weighing it in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
