Mr Monkey - have you notified the DVLA of the swap yet? If you haven't yet are you just gonna fill out the main V5 and thats it or are you sending anything else up to them?

Also, technically when do you have to notify them? When you first buy the engine? first put it in? first start up??

I have sent the V5 off. Just waiting on it coming back. Should be back in the week I hope. I just sent it off when I knew it was too far gone to go back to an A series.

No I didn't send an engineers report. Was I supposed too? Will see what comes back.

Got my alt bracket almost finished. The one I got through didn't fit as I think it was for an extended front and to make it fit in that location would mean a lot of cutting of the body which I didn't want to do. So I moved it out to by the engine mount and recut and welded a lot of it. This is what it looks like at the mo. Not pretty and not secured on the engine yet but will get better picks when I have. Got some paint drying on it at the moment so should look alright the next time I take a picture of it.

Hate to say it Mr Monkey but you will probably get a letter back from the DVLA saying that they want proof (an engineers report) confirming that the engine is fitted correctly & meets there standards or at least a letter from a reputable garage confirming that they have checked it. Latestarter2 was asked for one & he only changed the engine in his clubby from a 1275 to a 998. Don't you just luv the rules !!!
Let me know how you get on.

hi mate. quick question. when you removed all the rubbish from your wiring loom, did you remove the pins for the wires from any connectors or did you just cut them?

I cut the wires near the connections but left enough incase I need to reconnect the wires if needed. When it's all in and working and I now I don't need them then they'll get cut out.

Ok I didn't update this with the troubles I've been having. Had the car running but was hunting real bad. Whenever I touched the throttle it would rev a little but too much made it just stall out. We looked at it for a while and couln't figure it out. I needed a beer and was in no real mood to try and solve it. Been on my mind for a few days now and couln't rest till I had it done. Got some help off 16vforum and some of the Honda sites had good info. It ended up being the MAP sensor and Throttle Postion Sensor connection the wrong way round. Cause I changed my intake the plugs don't line up right and it's easy to get the mixed up. Went to the car today armed with wire colours, voltages and resistances to check and all sorts of info. Slaved in another IACV so it was just hanging there as the wires don't reach. Swapped the connections around on TPS and MAP and BAM....... she started with no grumbles.

Chris is happy and one step close to driving it.

Idle like it's ment to

Some notes from her behind
