Yay good day today. I have started the engine change :dozing: The car is off the road and at the end of day one the a series was out and all the loom put in the car. Brake servo off and the bulkhead nice and tidy to start mating the engine up to it to see where to cut. Only thing that was seized on was the clutch hose bracket so that had a run in with the grinder :dozing: Tomorrow I'm gonna get back to the car and remove the loom in the car so the bulkhead can be cut and move suspension stuff from old to new frame.

I have one off my mate that I'm gonna probably use. I'm gonna have to cut it up i think to make it fit but we'll see what happens. I got the engine right back in the frame today so got a little more room than I first thought but it still ain't big enough :teehee:
Cheers Rob it's getting there. Can't wait to get some paint on that nasty engine bay. Sick of looking at it :( It's going well at the mo but I havent tried connecting any electrics yet so riv run is looking good but I'm not counting those chickens.
Today was good got all the suspension on the frame. Tie bars and bottom arms are on and look sweet. Someone let me know if they are on wrong as I know a few people have done that but I think there ok. The engine and frame are connected to the car :genius: Took the rack off to clean before so I have that fun to deal with another time. Got some countersunk hex head bolts for it. Started to cut the bulkhead. Only had one fire but it was BIG :!: and made us panic a bit. Turned out to be a cover we had over the engine to stop all the grindings going in it. A quick blat of the fire extinguisher and we carried on :) nothing like fire to get the blood pumping. Anyway a few pictures for you, enjoy. (sorry none of the fire as for some reason I went for the extinguishers rather than the camera. We need someone else there to take pictures when we panic)

Arrrgghhhhh more wires

If you get really stuck at least you'll still have the worst case scenario - getting a custom manifold made?

Watch this space, or the 'other' one :(

Is that an Air Disc Cutter?

Yes matey it is. Not too good though as it goes through discs like..... well a big disc eating monster.
Wasn't really in the mood for it today, went over there and got the rest of the stuff off the a series i wanted to and then spener came and collected it from me so that is now gone. Did a bit more cutting of the bulkhead, nearly got it ready to start thinking about the box sections.

Got the pedal box out so i can mod the top of the clutch pedal to take the honda master cylinder arm. Was gonna fit the countersunk bolts to the steering rack but lo and behold I have the wrong ones so going to try a local place to get them. Fitted my intermediate shaft to the engine and have about 1mm to the rear mount so might have to move the engine forward a bit :(

also had a trial fit of my oil sandwhich plate for temp and pressure sensors. Looks snug but I think it'll work

Hello people. Finally got some time so thought I'd start a thread. All began around August. It started with a few bits and bobs being taken off to get some work done and before I knew it the car is stripped and this is my daily driver too :( Getting close to paint but things keep holding me up. Front don't fit right, touch the car and find more holes, too much beer, more holes, lack of money (cause of the beer). It's been a rocky road so far and can't see any smooth sailing for a while. Anyway a few pictures for ya.

Here she is when I first got her. Had a body kit
Posted Image

Then I whipped that off for the cleaner look. Didn't like the body kit much
Posted Image

Now I'm finding holes. Had a couple of hundred pounds of welding done as my welding is not there yet. Only bought the welder earlier this year.

Reskinned the doors. Great job that. All went well for once.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Fitting a new boot skin. Trial fit here. But it's not gonna line up well. Anyone had this prob??
Posted Image
Posted Image
Have a look at this and tell me that is not a good shape. All twisted
Posted Image
So having problems trying to get a new one sorted. But here it's fitted but not lined up.
Posted Image

and that's about where I am at the mo. Not gonna be moving too fast but will keep updating as and when. Hope you like it so far :(

Plenty of trial fitting then Mr Monkey, Hope all goes well, have you sorted out the drive shafts, Gun & paint is waiting !!!

The drive shafts have been taken by a mate up to the car as they'll be a bit heavy to go on my back on the bike with my welder and a few other bits ready for somemore work on it maybe tomorrow. Still waiting on brake caliper pistons and seals, me think the company I used might not be too reliable

Got to the car for a few hours today. Drive shafts are on, rear mount now about 5mm from intermediate shaft, brake discs and drive flanges on and was gonna get her on all four wheels but someone is using the other jack so can't lift the shell up so will wait for another time.

I'm following your bulkhead mods as it looks like I'll be going this way aswell, didnt really want to cut the firewall but as you said dont really want to mess up the air flow on the intake by chopping it up.

Be sure to post up pictures of how your boxing it in as it might help others that no naff all about making this stuff......

Coming along nicely mate and I think I'm gonna borrow (blatantly nick) your idea on painting the hub flanges! :dontgetit:
