well as the weather is now nasty and the roads are horrid I thought it was time to get the mini in the garage and stay there till it get's nice again. Will give me time to get a few things done. So went out and found a golf 1.8 GTI that I've always wanted. Got it for 100 notes :o without tax or test and had a dead battery. Lucky the battery was on warranty so got that changed for free. Put it through a test and was well supprised that it passed first time. So insurance and tax and it's home. Well happy. The only thing is I'm getting stung with tax. 6 months is more than the car is worth. Never mind. The only real prob with the car is that the alarm is going off at random times. So if anyone is good with old alarms and can help please have a look in ice and security for my post and help shead some light on how to kill the dam alarm.

I thank you all. Just dropped my mate into town in it and it's wicked. Few little niggles to sort but it's ace. Yeah me and alarms don't really mix too well. At least the one on the mini is behaving. I've got the window in the house open to listen to see if the alarm goes off so it's getting cold here but it's been there 10 minutes and not gone off so fingers crossed.

Hello people. Been a while since I've done any updates. Doing a few things to the mini while it's resting in the garage. Fixed my drivers seat which was coming loose from it's subframe. Got my high level brake light fitted back on today. Looks good. Have been doing a bit of thinking about the next part of my dash. Have got a basic mdf bit cut but needs a good bit of fettling. Should get that done soon enough.
But the one problem i have is that the battery was dead from sitting too long. So took it out for a drive yesterday before the weather got too bad. Was blatting along a nice country road when in the middle of the road is a dam branch =] Must have been knocked down by the wind. Didn't want to swerve and risk the chance of clipping it and rolling the car so had to hit it straight on. BIG bang ;) Left side of the car lifted into the air. Bounched back down and settled so I pulled over. Dark by now so couldn't see much so carried on to the next village. Stopped and had a look. No damage to the bodywork thank god but had a good look underneath today and it hit the fuel pipe guard, the passenger footwell, the bottom of the hub, backbox (which is still on luckily) and ripped off one of my LA CUCARACHA horns. Went back and found part of it but the black bit from the end is gone :proud: Typical. Hasn't been out for 2 month and this happens the first run this year. Here is the offending bit that is left. Think I smashed it into about 4 bits.

Well I would but the bloody battery has now totally gone. Went and bought a charger but don't think it'll do much good. Might have helped if i hadn't left the interiour light on :)

well I saved my battery. It did charge up and has held so am happy. Did some interiour stuff this weekend. Got on with the headlining. Had some blue alcantara off ebay a while back for the dash so got another roll for the roof. Put the old one on it only to find it's just a bit too dam short. Gutted. So had to improvise. Between my lady and myself we came up with the idea of adding some extra material we just happened to have around the house. So a couple of hours of cutting and sewing we went from this

got some ice finally on the go. Have made 2 boxes for 10 inch jbl subs. Making one to go behind each front seat as I have the rear bench trimmed right back. They are angled so I can still tip my seat to have a kip at shows :owned: Not got the stereo in at the mo so don't know what it sounds like but I can't wait to hear it. Not bad for a weekends work.

cheers mate. Thought it was the best use of space. Great fun it was working out the volume to make it all work.

well sorry for the late reply but have been away for a few weeks. The MDf is about 12mm thick I think. Makes it heavier but at least will stop any flex. Here is what they look like in the car.

Got out today and did some work. Missed not getting on with stuff being away. Got the headlining in and clamped so it can do it's stretch thing before i glue it. I'm dam happy with it so far. Super happy it actualy fits. Will try glueing it on tomorrow.

and have got on with the centre console to hold the headunit so I can hear what the subs sound like. Gonna get some blue alcantara on that too.
