The car has been on the drink lately and is sitting a bit low on the passenger front. had a look and found the bump stop touching on that side.

so looks like new coil springs for me soon. Also got a shiney rocker cover from a mate. Good timing as i was just about to replace the seal anyway.

Now it may be nothing or it could be everything but it think my paint might be reacting with something as it's started to blotch. Might just be me and all I'm seeing is the paint is too thin but I think I might have a problem :ermm: this can't be happening.

Looks like it may just have been me having a bad day but the paint seems to be ok. Went to a spray shop to see how much it would be to tidy up my paint. He said he'd strip all the paint off and start again. Gonna be a grand in all for it :o Might just cut off the runs, and maybe have a go at rollering and flatting and polishing. Have a good base coat on so might work out alright. P.S the runs are still well soft :P
MOT time soon so have to get the springs bought and wanged in as to pass because of the bump stop touching. Got some new subframe bushes too as the ones on there are bummed. They might go on tomorrow. Also might start to sort out my speakers as I'm fed up of having them floating round under my seat and not being able to hear them.
problem i got is am starting to redo the garden as the weather is good, have half demolished the kitchen. Bathroom needs finishing off and the bike needs a service. Nothing like letting all the jobs build up :(

hello again. been a while since I've been on. Not too much has been happening with the car. It passed it's MOT yesterday first time. Well chuffed. Need to do a swivel joint at some point and the handbrake needs a quick adjust but that be it. Also realised that the tax was out. Never did get a reminder through for that. Very strange as they are usually good for that. Anyway to celebrate the car being on the road and legal again I went and got these babies.

can't wait to get them in as the car is handling a bit poo at the moment and this should do the trick. Can do the swivel at the same time. Anyone do there own swivel joints or do they take them to the garage? I was not too sure weather to do it or not but will just give it a go.

Hope to be fitting them next week after guard has finished. When you back from sandy places mate?

Oh yeah I forgot to add that I've fitted a new super cool 2 core rad, a summer stat and turned my fan to face the right way to stop the car overheating. Now the temp gauge hardly moves off the cold. Might have done too good a job :turtle: Found out why the heater was getting so dam hot all the time. When I connected the heater valve back up it was not shutting all the way. Had a very small gap for the hot water to get through. So sorted that and it's all good now.

The clocks were already on the car when I got it. All I've done to them is add the indiglow dial faces which are ace.

Have started the spring conversion today. Went out and got a cone compressing tool. Have stripped out the drivers side front parts and am ready tomorrow to put the springs in. The only thing that gave me trouble was the bump stop bolt was corroded solid. So a quick snap later and i was a bit gutted as everything else went good. But have just sorted it and don't need to get a new bump stop so on with the conversion when i get up. Might even get a few pics up for ya.

These were bought from a company called minitastic Linky Give them a call or drop by and the guy there will help you decide what you need.

Well today was busy. Got the fronts done after alot of shouting as things were so rusted together that they were braking or just not coming off. But with alot of penetrating :D spary I got to this

Posted Image

After getting both doughnuts out I was able to check and see if I was right, that it was these causing the car to sit low on the passenger side.

Posted Image

So with these on it should all be good. Had to get my old friend the grider out to cut off one of the old trumpets as I could not for the life of me free the knuckle to use again. Note to self - get a blow torch.

Posted Image

but I was confident so went ahead and did a rear one. Wanted to do them both but time was running out in the day and dam I needed a bath cause I was covered in crud.

Posted Image

The only thing I can say is I'm not too sure how the adjustment is gonna go. I found that to keep the units in position when the car is jacked up the adjusters have to be wound quite far out. This means the car sits high. If I lower it they fall about in the subframes?!? Anyone shead some light on this? I'll see what happens tomorrow when I try some adjustment.

It sounds like you need to think about running lowered dampers.

that's normal for the rear ones fella, Use another jack to move the radius arm up to keep pressure on it so that you can adjust it. once they are set you can drop the car onto its wheels and adjust them from the inside of the subframe! if you need a hand giveme a shout - will be free monday night!

The adjustment part isn't what I was thinking about.

I was thinking if it ever came to the point where your rear wheels left the ground or extended far enough to allow the hi-lo assembly to move, that's your rear end collapsing :D.

Maybe it's just me who gets concerned about these things, haha.
