I am thinking of purchasing a 1960 Morris Mini Minor. It was 1st registered on 31/03/60. As far as i know, the Morris Mini Minor from this time was not available in Burgundy, but Cherry red, Old English White and Blue.

Could this be an exception? The Seller has had the car for two years, and he bought it off the original owner, who owned it for 46 years previously. The seller says the car was resprayed 10 years ago, but says it was sprayed in the same colour.

How can I check?

This might help.... Mini colour Schemes

There were Maroon Morris Minis available between '59-'69. Have a look at that webpage and see if you can find the colour scheme of the car you're looking at

According to that, The Standard Mk1 Morris Mini was available in only two colours Tartan Red, and white.
I don't want to pay for a heritage certificate, as that takes a few weeks and costs £35.

Is this the opnly way I can check?

Am I being really dim here? Where does is say they were only available in Red and White?

There doesn't seem to be a model on the list with less than four colours available!

Now I can see 4 colours on Standard Mini Mk1 (Morris). I see 4 colours, but Maroon is not listed for this basic of mini's.

I suspect the respray was not done to the original colour. A shame if that is the case. But could there be an exception to the rule during the manufacture of some vehicles?

The quote above doesn't work too well, as it doesn't have the headers showing which colour refers to which parts of the car etc, but that section I've quoted gives the colour schemes for standard MK1 Austin and Morris Minis from '59 - '69 and Maroon is on the list..... I'm not sure where you're looking...... (am I just having a bad day?)
