I have a mk2 with external hinges but the doors are a bit worse for wear, in the garage i have 1 very good mk3 door and one totally reconditioned. I know the doors are different at the bottom of the A panel but seriously how much work would it be to get them to fit, and has anyone tried it. I am on about keeping the hinges on the outside by the way but having wind up windows!

it would be a lot of work

the A and B pillars are different and so is the door step panel

just look at the shape at the bottom of mark 1+2 doors and the later mk 3 on doors

i think some of the australian minis had quarter lights and wind up windows, i could be wrong though. its worth scouring ebay for some, you never know, there may be a pair in the UK

IIRC the Mk1/2 doors are smaller in height than the Mk3 ones too!

Autofashion converted a pickup to mk3 doors when it had one of their Majic kits installed.

And they made them pillar-less

I'm sure there was a page about hopw they did it too but i can't find it

Wouldn't it be worth keeping a Mk2 as original a possible?

You may save a few quid but knock more off the value of your car.

i was thinking the same thing. you might as well save the mk2 or sell it as they are getting rare now, and go for a mk3 on mini as it already has wind up windows etc.

the mk2 new door may be a kerfuffle and more expensive, but its a hell of alot more worth it. period.

Well i cant afford to buy another mini and i know how rare mk2's are so that is exactly what i was trying to do. I have had it up for swap on here for quite a while but no-one was interested, so i presumed mk2's cant be that sought after >_<
This is why i would rather make it into what i really want.

well, it is your mini. do a roof chop and lower it as far as possible, so it looks like the one in your signature (even though its a drawing, it looks the nuts)
