I've just installed a set of black leather recaro seats from an Audi S3 in my Cooper. Boy are the comfortable! I wasn't sure they'd fit, plus I'm 6'4" so they need to placed properly. Clarke McDonald at McDonald Minis cut the Audi subframes off the seats and fabricated a new frame to match the mini's connection points on the floor. A superb job. There's not much room for back seat passengers but hey ho. What a difference. I may even wire up the built in seat heaters for winter.

I've got Mazda MX-5 seats in my van! They're not fitted yet though as we've not made the brackets!

Since my van was stolen, I have no need for these. PM me if you're interested.

(They've got speakers in the headrests and have been upgraded to better JVC versions)

I figured they were narrow enough so they may fit and took a punt on ebay. I'm so pleased with them! Navy blue to match the rest of the interior.

these pictures really dont do the seats justice as there is actually alot of leg room in the back and these seats are so comfortable!

by the way, these seats are from a ford puma, front seats have modified subframes and the back seats fit pretty much straight in..

Hi just been reading through this thread which has really given me some ideas as I am now getting into the rebuild of my mini as all the body works done.
I was looking to maybe get the existing seats re covered but they are the boring 1990 bog standard jobs and the option some of you folks have gone for on here look very good.
Currently I am thinking of getting hold of a cheap set of rover 100/metro seats and possibly getting them recovered if cash allows. It would seem they are the very same seats used in the later coopers which have more about them than my originals . I could have the rears done in the same design then. What appeals is keeping the rears matching if possible to give it an oem look.
Failing that I like the ford puma seats and the bonus that the rear seat goes in too.
Couple of questions, on the metro seats if anyone has done this are they easily fitted or can they be adapted easy?
Same question on the puma seats what is involved in getting them installed and does anyone have any pictures they would email through of how they did it?
I assume it is always best to steer clear of anything with airbags fitted as I guess that would need taking out which is an added problem and not something t be messing around with?

Any pointers appreciated cheers Glyn
