We've got them on my car (as winter wheels).. don't listen to the miles of discouragement you'll get from people on this forum...

They DO NOT eat wheel bearings, they don't effect the handling of the mini at all... and they look bloody fantastic! Worth every penny >_<

My car is set up with Cooper S brakes, so it's not necessary for us to run these particular wheels, but I love them!!

I was once parked in a garage when a guy who used to race Cooper S' in the 60's came drooling over the car, he asked me where I'd got the rims in such mint condition... he has owned hundreds of them, but they still fooled him! >_<

Amy, I just wondering which wheels you have, as I'm sure I've heard there are two types of these Jap wheels, those that have the massive spacer built and those without?

I have heard this also. They have something like a 2" spacer in the back..

Some pictures would be nice Amy showing the rear of your wheels..

I'll ask Simon tonight, as I can't remember off the top of my head.....

Sy has just put them back on the car this weekend, to save my chrome wheels from all the winter salt!

Will see what he says and get him to post here later....

I believe there is the type sold by MiniSpeed with the built in spacer. These allow 10" wheels on later cars as they move the wheels out far enough that the brake calipers are no longer inside them. These will need arches, probably Sportpack size as a minimum.

Then there is the MiniSport alloy replicas - these are the same dimensions, offsets etc as the standard S steel wheels but made in alloy. These will not fit the later 8.4" brakes and require the same brake mods as any other 10" rim (apart from the above, obvuiosly!).

Just had an email from smil on eBay and he sells both versions of this wheel.

-15 offset, fit any disc brake setup (even 8.4" 12" wheel size disc brake) require group 5 arches or sportpack arches
mounting face to inner rim about 6cm

other +14 offset only fit durm brake, 7.5" & 7.9" disc brake setup, it require standard 1985-on genuine rover Plastic arch
mounting face to inner rim about 9cm

The ones on Amys car have the built in spacer, but its not 2 inches wide. More like an inch. We get away with standard width Wood and Pickett arches on the front, and just the woody trim at the back. They do stick out a little bit, but not very much.

Ours will fit over 8.4" discs, i tried them on my Mini van just to see, and they cleared the callipers no problem.

retroracer1380 is too "cool" to reply on here so i thought id reply for him.

Basically oli runs these, they look like genuine S rims, and he fit them over his 8.4 callipers. He also said they handle really well.

alternatively you could buy my genuine reverse rims with tyres. PM me for more info ;)
