Thanks, found it on the bay, a bit cheaper too. Perfect for the cold start at the London to Brighton Mini Run. I wonder how much they drain the battery?

Started on A frame - noticed will have around 12" from from front of "box" to flip front (will use this space for a battery box - gets more weight on hook!!!). :)

No, not signed up yet. But whats the point in signing up when the cars not built up yet? I want to get the engine built and running to make sure its all 100% good this time.

Been busy today, getting rid of in-laws (no they're nice really- especially lightly toasted!!! ) and cutting, grinding, drilling & welding.
Looking pretty good I reckon, needs battery box and a reinforcing plate near the pointy bit - but that's another day. :ermm:

gets more weight on hook!!!

Will you need more weight on the hook?!

By the looks of it you'll need coilovers and spring helpers on the car - and drive with the jockey wheel down :-

We'll have to wait & see when I do some dry runs round the farm with it hitched up.

Got cans of Plastic Primer in post today + ordered drilled/grooved discs for front + mintex shoes for back. My cars gonna stop big stylie!!!!

Found mismatch with flipfront & both A-panels on trailer - both appear to be well out of shape, so replacements going on today.

Also "the roof", I said it had dents because it was rolled (stolen, recovered), :dontgetit: More dents than heavy water - science joke there fans

Cracking on - more later. :techsupport:

You sure it's not the flip front that's out of shape?

The A panel should be dead straight in line with the A pillar seam.

Wow interesting project. I love your enthusiasm but I think you're going to have real issues getting the nose weight of the trailer down. You really need to have the wheels in the middle of the trailers length rather than at the rear like you have, as it will allow you to balance the trailer’s weight so it is mainly on the wheels and not the towing hitch.

I modified a motorbike trailer and wanted to make sure it was still OK for nose weight, so got a pair of bathroom scales, put an axle stand on them and adjusted the stand to the same height as the hitch on the car, then I zeroed the weight on the scales. I loaded the bikes onto the trailer and maneuvered it so the towing hitch was resting on the axle stand and read off the weight. Luckily it was only 63kgs so it was well within the 75kg nose limit of my Escort.

You need to find out how much nose weight a Mini is rated for. As the guy who fitted my tow bar said, “tow bars are for pulling, not lifting.

not much id imagine, although im not sure where the tow bar is fixed... id imagine it goes onto the rear subframe? which, in itself is only held on by 8 bolts....
