You don't need the relay because the cable you are using will easily take the 5A that the horn needs.

the cable might be fine but what about the switch ?

Good point, so the switch needs to be rated at 5A or more as well...
I assumed it would be because usually the smallest you can get is a 5A.

but the horn is a inductive load so you have to derate the switch by 1/2

Well I admit didnt know that.. We use a different type of fuse for an inductive load at work but I've never considered the switch. So you think it needs a minimum of a 6A switch!?
I suppose the relay could be wired next to the switch but then it may as well have been wired in from the start.
Do you know if a brake fluid test switch would take 6A?

Thanks to everyone who gave me diagrams and help, got it fitted today, and oh so clever as we were it's wired up to the normal horn button and there is a switch on the dash - if it's up you get the normal horn, if it's down you get the special horn

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGAH!!!

I'm putting a dixie in my mini tomorrow (if the weather is alright), plan on putting it inside the right wheel arch just above that big air intake hole. Should be enough room up there

a good place to put air horns when they have 4 or 5 horns is on the rear subframe with all the horns pointing to the back of the car then no rain gets in and you dont feel the pump vib throw the shell

just a thort

and yes lisa it did hust alot lol :shifty:
