Thanks for pointing me to autosparks starmag, I'll definitely get some stocks from them when I start the build-up on the estate, I've had some wiring bits from them once before. That selection covers a lot of situations but I'm pretty sure there are more types of grommet than that on a mini! hopefully not everything on the estate will be perished to hell like on the last one!

If I know the ones you mean then the problem with the household grommets is that they're really just meant to stop the cable chafing in the hole, they don't grip or provide any kind of weather seal so you're probably better off punching a hole into a blanking grommet in that situation.

I managed to replace nearly all the rubber grommets on my car when i rebuilt it using autosparks, all were a good fit and are still doing there job now, the only one i couldn't get from them was the large grommet that holds the main loom which passes throught the bulkhead so i just re-used an old one

Yeah, I guess a few of my problems were due to it being a heritage shell. And a retrofited longbridge heritage shell at that... so there are a few weird late type features to the metalwork.
