You see, there is a common theme here! Minis breaking down!

I do see what you're saying David, but I guess that's totally a decision to be made by the organisers of each run. Meeting up at the ring would be cool. There are problems with timings and so on though, that's just one concern. Isn't the SRR a month or so earlier than the BH2N?

Wasnt the initial point of BH2N to go to the ring? what was SRR's?

From my perspective, it was getting 50 Minis together and have a dam good laugh .... SIMPLE AS THAT, I reckon the other SRR runners would agree, let see if they do

Well I'm glad this hasn't yet turned into another arguement by the two groups!! And myself and Matt will be thoroughly annoyed if anyone tries to take it that way!!

The two runs are very much different now! SRR goes from a different track, uses a different ferry company and goes on a tour of several tracks on its way to and from the 'Ring! They never stole any of our contacts, how would you steal a contact anyway! The fact that they use the same campsite it just good planning, why not stay at that campsite, its in the perfect location!

I really wish those few people would learn to let things go, it detracts from everything important we're trying to achieve!

But, that's the thing. You're allowed to be biased. If that's a run that suits you better then it's OK to say that. to be honest, I really don't want this to become any kind of TMF versus anyone else thread. IMO the two runs are different, they're different groups of people that may want slightly different things from the run.

I can see (trying to be neutral as possible) that there are reasons that the original BH2N organisers would be annoyed that someone had come along on a TMF run, then done a similar run the next year. But, let's get past that.

The SRR seems to me (again, as an outsider) to be more of a family type event. It also seems to be a slightly longer run (not 100% sure on that, but it seems that way to me). The whole thing is that the two events are similar and there will be some inherent competition to make one run better than the other. For me, I would like a week away, with a bunch of like minded people, who all have/drive minis. The fact that I know a load of the BH2Ners and not any of the SRRers is what swings it for me. In actual fact, the timing of the SRR would suit me better, but I've got some good friends doing the BH2N.

So, the facts as sort of a comparison (in my eyes)

BH2N - End of August. SRR - End of July
BH2N - Start Northampton SRR - Start Kent
BH2N - Duration 6 days? SRR - duration 6 days?
BH2N - Fun, for adults! :) SRR - More family orientated?

Neither event is a race, both head from the UK to Germini, both events last a similar time, both seem to be fun.

As I said, I'd like to remain totally neutral here, I'd appreciate if everyone else could too

May I make a humble suggestion;-

I started this thread, can I ask it to be closed now, my questions and comments have been answered and I feel I have inadvertantly opened a can of worms.

In otherwords, lets quit why we are ahead!

very well put. i only knew 2 people who did srr, one was a mini mag guy the other was my passenger. now many are good friends.
just so others have a better understanding of srr

srr is a child friendly event, but there is still plenty of drinking (for the adults)

it runs over six days, not as much time of work needed this way

there are trips organised for the time spent at the ring, its up to the individual if they do them or not

there are "running groups" approx six minis in each, traveling at different speeds, join which ever is comfortable or leaving places at convinient times

main aim, like bh2n, have fun

webweaver replied while i was typing, but i agree with him
