Sorry to read about the Bean. :) Glad you intend him to live again one day - good on you.

Nice BGT; I guess you know that the sills are the things to worry about on these - especially under those shiny oversills.

Hey, it's a 70's Leyland product - of course they rust, just like Minis. It's part of their inbuilt character. :P

The MG Owner's Club has a really good spares operation: MGOC Spares. They even do service kits etc. Service Kits - MGB

Have fun!

The sills, if I remember, are made up of 5 panels. If they are rotten be prepared for it to be off the road for a little while.
There is a flitch panel up under the front wings that are prone to rot
Also the kingpins are another thing
But apart from that they are a lovely car to drive, lots of leg room in the front, and my overdrive, when I had one, use to work in 3rd and 4th gear
Had mine for about 10 years

absolutly gutted about this, he was my inspiratiion for the retro mini i will be building in the future.
(obviously not copying tho)
i hope you get him sorted soon and back on the road, (if your allowed to i dont know how it works)
and i cant beleive theyve written off over such a small amount of damage, only take a day or so to repair surley

good look with the mg, dont go over to them and forget the mini scene tho

cheers guys! its fun to look back and remeber all the fun and toils ive had!

well this is a small announcement!

The MG, as much as i enjoy him, will be sold in the new year, around jan/feb time.... this is because my work placement will finish and so i won't need a car, plus, i miss owning a mini!!!

im hoping my insurence money will come in before christmas as they still havent payed up! therefore i will be back in the positive and the money i get for the MG will be spent on getting the bean back on the road. this time it will be done properly. ill be getting a new shell for him and making sure it is rust free... i am considering painting him teal blue, the same colour as the MG, 1.because i like the MG colour and 2. because that was the beans original colour when he came ot the factory. i will be making him a mk3 again, because thats what he is, i have the mk2 cooper, so i dont need a mk2-a-like anymore...
whatever is worn will be replaced, whatever needs a clean and a paint will be refurbished. i will be keeping his 1100, and i will see how much money i have after the bodywork, but i really want a supercharger, or perhaps a K series 16V head...

so...

thats my update! count the days people! i will be!!

im super excited to start back on him and get him back on the road!

look out for the mk2 update too! christmas hols are coming and i have a new welder :)
