ha that is true!! the only advise i have about the 1100, is they tend to burn oil, so if you can check the ring gaps, and the Valve oil stem seals

right, well yesterday i started on taking out the old engine, got the carb and manifolds off and the exhaust, took out all the bits that will get in the way, then i whipped off the head to see if i could see any damage....

nothing....

really strange.... so who knows what the noise was!!?

anyhoo, back to work today, should have the engine out. need to clean up and paint the 1100 and my head, need a gasket kit, a new wheel bearing and some CV boots while im at it, and i could do with some new shocks... hmm...

ill get some pictures today too!

got new CV boots, full engine gasket set, and a new wheel bearing, my dad had put in a n order for the mk2 which i picked up too, he got some cam lube, timing disc, BMC green engine spray...

i gave the 1100 a bit of a clean:

needs a bit more doing... im gonna paint it black...

then the long part:

then it was over!

i forgot how annoying that pin in the gear linkage is... tisk....

so, im busy tomorrow, more to do on friday, strip the gearbox from the 998, get it on the 1100, get the head on, then put it all back together!

lovely!
