Haha no I'm not left handed.. The welding on the scuttle in the last pics is actually a bit dodgy, as I was welding on very thin rusty metal! Perfectly strong, just looks a bit like pigeon *******..

off topic but, i have always wanted to de bumper the rear of my mini, what kind of ampage on a gas less welder would you use on body work and such things? i work mainly outside so really it has to be gas less.

might have to get you to do my scuttle and respray sometime if you want some extra work on the side? bristol isn't that far from me.

i was joking lol.
but if you wanted to give me a price.
its quite rusty at the front, its a 1982 and not been looked after,
ive welded new sills on to get it through the mot, just the front that need work really.
the bottom part of the inner wings have started to come away,
pm me a rough price for new front and wings.i can do the spraying and filling my self,

very tempting

Not sure to be honest mate, never used gasless. It depends what welder you're using as to what settings it needs to be at. Just get a bit of scrap metal and have a play. Yup I do the odd bit of work on the side, not too much though, don't want the boss to think I'm taking the p*ss.

Got cracking again this afternoon, I'm keeping the fibreglass wings and front panel but cutting off the fibreglass A panels and welding on proper ones so it isn't so obvious it's got a FG front.

A panels welded on, seam trim and wheel arch just sitting on, to check gaps etc.

I have welded plates onto the A panels to fix the front to, via some kind of fixings, either dzus fasteners or button bolts.

Pretty boring pictures today, but should get the front back on as soon as I've sourced a new metal bonnet. If anyone has one, throw it in my direction! (not literally) I have a fibreglass one I can swap if anyone fancies it :)

Hey, Thanks, Yeah I would definitely recommend going into that, restorations especially, as you have time to get everything 100% which isn't always possible in a general bodyshop, plus it's not so stressful as there aren't so many deadlines as such. Good luck with the course! :P
