Ok I managed to get a wee bit more done tonight, ripped off the passenger side sill, found it was just as bad as the drivers side

RIGHT. Got to the garage at 8 o clock thismorning, Just got home :(

Found the nearside rear quarter was just as warped and full of filler as the offside!!

Anyway, sorted that out as thus.

Worst of the filler dug out

Step welded and filled

Rear quarter re-filled and masked

Primed

Then I set about deseaming the rear! Sorry Grimmy I only just saw your comment or I'd have taken more pics!

Basically, Take out the rear lights, bumper (obviously), and very importantly, the petrol tank! (welding plus petrol vapour equals BANG) put a bolt in the end of the fuel pipe to save vaopur leaking. Carefully remove the tank, be very careful not to spill any in the boot. If you do, wait for it to completely evaporate and the smell to go before doing any welding/grinding.

Cut a 6 inch section off at a time, cut it off and grind the lip so it sticks out about 2 ml, and weld it up! I tap the weld in slightly so you don't have to grind so much off, gives more strength, which is needed as it's a structural area of the 'shell.

Cut

Ground and welded

It is also a good idea to remove the sealant from inside the boot, saves it going up in flames when welding! I didn't do this, so I had lots of little bonfires, it was rather festive.

When it's all welded up, re-seal the panel join inside the boot

Thats all for now, sorting out the front when my energy has returned.

Yeah I'd weld the valance properly everwhere apart from the top lip, just tack it. But it's very important that it's properly aligned, or it'll be difficult getting the shape right!
