Early type 3 notchback and fast backs are one of my all time faves. If you get one of those and do the same to it as your sisters motor, send me the thread link, I'm all....er.....eyes >_<

...and all the best with the job Peter!

RIGHT. Got to the garage at 8 o clock thismorning, Just got home

Found the nearside rear quarter was just as warped and full of filler as the offside!! :teehee:

Anyway, sorted that out as thus.

Worst of the filler dug out
Posted Image

Step welded and filled
Posted Image

Rear quarter re-filled and masked
Posted Image

Primed

Cut

Ground and welded

It is also a good idea to remove the sealant from inside the boot, saves it going up in flames when welding! I didn't do this, so I had lots of little bonfires, it was rather festive.

When it's all welded up, re-seal the panel join inside the boot

Thats all for now, sorting out the front when my energy has returned.

Just been looking at the pics and just noticed my rear end isnt like this :S the bit inderneath is more backwards so it doesnt smooth off properly how can i sort this ?

Yeah pretty much! you could push it back in line from behind and re-profile it with filler, but it would be far from ideal.

Righto, had a bit of a bad day. Got into work to find that last night, some lowlife had broken into the yard at work and has walked all over the roof and bonnet. :( They also threw all the parts that were inside it all over the place, and stole some aerosols out of the boot. GUTTED. The roof and bonnet were properly caved in, the roof was dented in about 6 inches in places. I removed the new headlining that I fitted a few weekends back, and hit out the worst of the dents. I've removed 90% of the damage, but the roof is still very badly dented. The dents in the bonnet have come out ok, but it still will need further work to get right. It's at least 2 weekends of work to fix it all, the roof will have to be filled pretty much all over and re-primed and repainted. Bloody typical, the car's been there under a cover for 4 months now, and the night before I'm due to take it home, someone goes and does that. I went to the Lidl next door to work, to see if they had CCTV, they don't, and it turned out they were broken into last night as well. I have reported it to the police, hopefully they will catch the little :( (rhymes with runts).

The worst beaten out.

Anyway, after a morning feeling sorry for myself I decided to just to get cracking, and sort out the roof and the bonnet when the rest of it is all done.

Refitted the headlining, it's not as nice as it was first time, but it's okay.
