I got one for you guys...

1990 City E 998cc. Starts first time, everytime and doesnt skip a beat. HOWEVER, as soon as it gets warm, like ive been rodding around in it for say an hour, constantly, i get a real bad misfire.

NOW...

This has been happening since i changed the plugs, leads and i also did the valve gap clearences. SOme of the gaps were wrong, so i adjusted them, according to Haynes. Do you think this could be the problem??? or shall i start elswhere, like points???

CAN YOU LOCATE THE CYLINDER(S) THAT ARE MISFIRING? PRESUMABLY IF IT HAPPENS AT IDLE?
If so swap the plugs/ leads around (obviously at the plug and the dizzy end) to see if the misfire follows the plug or lead. If so you could have a duff plug or lead.
Did you set the valve clearances with a cold engine?

nice one peeps. Will try all of the above. This gonna take a bit of time, as ill have to change one thing, run it and see if it works. If not, try another. As instead of changing everything, i want to see what the problem is hehe

Might try the stuff ive already changed first as it was fine before i changed them. Maybe start with putting the old plugs in and see how i get on :)

Ill keep you all posted :w00t:

If you bought a multimeter you could test electric components and find out which it is that's causing the ball ache, instead of just replacing all them slowly. Waste of money.

They only cost about £5, mine was £6 and it tests dwell too.

If you're gonna replace parts,.. start with the cheapest first....

ok you guys, i realise that this post is MEGA old lol but ive only just had chance to look at it.

I dont have a condenssor  lol i think i got electronic ignition. Mine looks nothing like the haynes manual and everything i brought from fletchers isnt even on my car :ermm:

SO, i managed to matcha new dizzy to the one on my car, but im struggling to find the rota and i thought id replace - is it the igntion module???? Its behing the rota arm and its like a small box, about 2cm x 1cm and has a black and red wire coming out of it. You think this could be it????

Hmmm.....somebody help me
