yes the boot and bonnet have already been painted black,, they are just very dirty at the moment,,,

finished off my subwoofer build today, the fibreglass had dried so i tested them out and they sound very good for 6 inch subs,, very deep and still retain some punchyness as well,, the main bonus being no loss of space for them at all.
i fixed some spacers beside the subs to make sure the carpet would not touch and interfere with the throw of the sub and then placed the carpets in and tacked into place so now they are totally stealth,, confused a few mates this evening when i showed them the empty boot and only some tiny speakers hooked up in the front..
just need to get the carpet tidied up tommorow and carpet the rest of the bare metal on the interior, need to get hold of some adhesive then the front seats can go back in and the interior minus the dash can be sorted.

well today was quite productive,, i have got the rest of my stereo gear install minus fitting the front speaker and headunit in my new dash as its in the post,, mmm autoplas
took a few photos of stuff, i got my boot board kit in with my amp fitted to the side. i had to make a cutout in the board next to the tank to allow for the magnet of my 6X9's,, yes and before anyone says it, i dont care if you think 6X9's are rubbish lol they sounds surprising good in the rear shelf, they have a lot of lowmid and bass to them which surprised me,, they werent running great to begin with as i had got the polaritys mixed up and was creating a frequencies cancelling effect which happens when one speaker is out of phase with the other in the same enclosure. so witht eh wires swapped they sounds a lot better, also they are a really cheap and cheerful brand "toxic" yet they perform more than well enough for the 35quid i paid for them and anyway this is just for a bit of music my proper setup is in my everyday car.,, iv done a bit of tweaking with the subwoofer settings its real nice having the subs under the seat as i still have an empty boot!!!
i used some old infinity grills for the 6X9's as they look alot better than the ones which came with them, found a couple of bass ports lyin around so i put them in the shelf for show rather than actual function.
got most of the interior in now, just the passenger seat and a bit of carpet too fit and the dash when it arrives,, need to pick up an old type speedo cable for me centre clock.
im having a bit of trouble getting my bonnet to line up nicely im wondering whether it could be something to do with the fibreglass front and could possibly do better with a fibreglass one???
well the car will go back down the lockup tommorow so all in all i think iv done well this week as iv managed to get it resprayed and nearly rebuilt in a week,,, go me!!!

started getting the front end built up tonight,, managed to get the headlight in. the grille is going to be a pain as the fibreglass front i bought already had a hole cut for a later mini so fitting my mk1 grille is proving tricky as there is nowhere to mount it,, so iv took measurements and im going to make some brackets at work tommorow, they only need to be really basic just to extend the grilles mounting points.
im making sure i put penny washers behind all fixing on the fibreglass in an effort to stop stuff eventually pulling through. the spotlights are going to be done the same with some custom made brackets to eliminate the stress on the fibreglass, hopefully ill get the bracket fitted tommorow..

the bonnet is also being a pain in the butt,, i think it has something to do with using a metal bonnet on an f/g front it fits ok but not great, but iv tried bending the bonnet slighty to get it to fit better but it wont go any more without the bonnet pushing up.

my new old dash arrived today courtesy off elisha the cooper,, cheers buddy!!!

mmm autoplas!!!

it popped straight into place with little messing apart from removing the old switch plate and choke lever out the way,, should look cool when its done,, not sure what colour to spray it though,, either just do it black or colour code it to the car,, or a bit of both maybe????

I think either would look good mate,.... but I would leave it black... could be a right pain to spray it too i.e. reactions etc etc...

**edit,.. I just flatted and polished up the Halfords paint test i did,... it's errrm, rather good!.. freaking mirror. and I'm suprised how much paint you can shoot with a leccy HVLP, loas of paint depth for flatting back but no Orange peel or runs. very happy. you're will look great >_< )

im looking forward to getting mine polished soon, but im working all weekend so it wont get done this week,, hopefully start to get it done next weekend, the dash has had the leather effect sanded off it so its smooth,, im tempted to give it a quick sand down then a few good coats of my high build primer just to get it super smooth. iv decided now after sittin in the car for a bit to do it the colour of the car after all as i have some left but dont have any black,, but the cutouts which are to house switches, gauges etc.. are going to be black just to break it up a bit, im going for the same setup as a user on here called amy,, her woody estate has an autoplas dash she has got the headunit in the bottom and 4 gauges at the side,, iv now got 4 gauges to fit which are,

oil pressure
water temp
voltmeter
clock

the rev counter it mounted to the steering column..
should look super nice when it is done, obviously will get photos when i do it.

got my gauges test fitted,, i cut the holes out with a hydraulic punch we have at work,, it did a real nice job of them. the stereo cutout still needs a bit of work but its not far off. one problem iv found is that the back of the speedo is very very close to the bulkhead so i cant bend the speedo cable so i may have to drill directly behind it to allow the cable to be fitted. heres a picture.
