doodle what model is the earlex you have??? i have done it in the garage,, do one side then have to pull the car out the garage and position next to the other wall as there isnt enough room to get around it comfortably,, so its a bit of a pain but less wind then outside,, its always worth a go with your electric gun if its good enough,, have a play on a old panel or something you have lying around, i have marked my gun with the nozzle settings for using primer at 65/35 ratio and my paint at 50/50 helps for future use at the same paint mixture to ensure it comes out the same.

hey, yeah, mines the 3000 same as yours, i got it when there was a sale a couple of years ago but havent bothered with it much, but i might have to start using now, i didnt realise it was that good, do you know any good paint suppliers?

the painting is finished!!! well the body colour anyhoo.

im startin to put bits and bobs back together but iv realised i forgot to drill my door for the nutserts which hold the wing mirrors doh! looks like ill have to be careful wit the battery drill. got a few pics of it, it looks eactly how i wanted it too aswell im well proud of the paint as i have never sprayed anything big at all, there is a few runs but nothing massive and they are fairly inconspicious.. for a noob painter it will suffice as im not after concours and it cost me next to nothing to do.

Stunning work you've done here chap, you've really inspired me, although I've got an air compressor so I ordered a paint gun and some zinc primer to get started.

How do you find the paint from halfords?
Is it acrylic?
Do you thin it with water?
And do you have any tips?

Would love to be able to get my spray work to look even half as good as yours, looks stunning for a diy effort with such a low cost outlay.

Paint from halfords is Acrylic based, It thins 50/50 with celly thinners (or acetone though i belive this flashes offfaster)

Practice first mate before you spray your car, on an old bonnet or something,... try vertical surfaces too, thee are the easiest to get runs on.

Doobz,... once that's polished up it'll look great!

i sure hope it does to be honest it looks good as it it so a polish should only make it better,, im just in the middle of fitting my undersub subs at the moment i have 2 of the elemental designs 6inch subwoofers to fit, thing is its a right pain to get the enclosure sealed i have a feeling it might be fibreglass resined in place lets hope it sounds good!!!

Thanks Retro, the doors will be getting it first as they need reskinning so the bare metal is going to need something on it to stop it going rusty again.

I will definitly play about with vertical surfaces and get a hand for it before i attempt anything major :D.

I'm watching your topic closely THedooBZ, I like your underseat sub enclosure, looks very trick and with the push and pull on those subs, should make some impressive noise :).

i dont really know too much about the push and pull effect which you mention,, i understand why it happens due to the air dispalced by each driver, but in depth i havnt a clue,, care to share some knowledge?

i have also found that one of these drivers in the rear shelf performs well, but to get the boot 100% is an impossiblility so thats why i chose under the seat.

I share that lack of knowing exactly what it does, but I know it's supposed to be good. :D
