update time,, i have got my opening quarters fitted and have decided to book the week after good friday off work,, so hopefully the weather will be nice as i can get the car back to my house as hopefully get the rest of the car sprayed as theres not much prep work left as the hardest parts are done which was the reskinned doors and the removable front.
so i will have 9 days to get it done in but im not gonna rush it.. would be nice to finish the paint as then i can rebuild it!!!!!

today i got cracking on cleaning the engine bay up a bit,, i dont really want to remove the engine to do it so i will get at everything i can, this is made easier by having the removable front so you can get at the sides.. anyway got it degreased and painted in blue just waiting for the paint to dry and ill go get the second coat onit,, meanwhile i have painted the alternator and a few other parts in silver so it should look ok once its back together. i need to get round to fitting the rest of my silicon hoses aswell

got the mini down to mine last night and got cracking this morning,, first off i ripped all the interior out and then got stuck into a lot of filling and sanding,, o joy!!!
anyways aftert todays effort i now have my rear end coated in primer and should hopefully get the rest in primer tommorow if all goes well..

justs lots of wet n dry will do the trick,, all the weldings done or so i thought, i then noticed the handbrake lever retaining bracket has snapped off the floor so i will have to re-weld it at some point,, the interior of the car is going to be sprayed black, and the boot will be the same aswell.

all painting to be done by the end of the week hopefully!!!!! hurrah for the EARLEX!!!!

Are you using 2k? How much primer did you need for the whole car? And are you going to lacquer it?

im using a single stage acrylic,, i think thats what its called so no need for a lacquer on top,,, i have used roughly 1.5litres of primer and have 2 litres of paint to use,, just depends how far i want to go with it,, i have used a nearly a litre so far as the doors and front end have had both coats already.

that finish looks really good, I've got one of them earlex guns in my shed, usually use it to spray fences with, I'd have never thought you could get a car looking like that with one. have you been spraying in your garage or out on your driveway? this thread is giving me ideas

doodle what model is the earlex you have??? i have done it in the garage,, do one side then have to pull the car out the garage and position next to the other wall as there isnt enough room to get around it comfortably,, so its a bit of a pain but less wind then outside,, its always worth a go with your electric gun if its good enough,, have a play on a old panel or something you have lying around, i have marked my gun with the nozzle settings for using primer at 65/35 ratio and my paint at 50/50 helps for future use at the same paint mixture to ensure it comes out the same.
