teehee! im not sure a flocked dash would look good in any other colour apart from black or grey... sort of would remind me of velvet flares like the purple ones my dad had...... lol

im off to the british mini fair 2008 at bingly hall soonage! cant wait! first mini outing of 08!!! gonna have to save up so i can afford some tasty bits!

Ed

there's nothing wrong with flares, saying that theres nothing write with them either, lol. wish i cud hav gone to bingly but due to uni wrk load and goin to watch the rugby alot cannot make it, grr although have started making a wiring loom from scratch (which includes a push start :D ) and also decided that the battery is going to be relocated behind the seats in a sealed unit and the battery box in the boot to be removed and welded up which means i can space the bike exhaust and have an outlet each side.

right been far too long since i updated this. After spending 2 days tidying and sorting the garage so i could actually get around the beast half the garage roof decided to collapse on the mini due to all the rain we were having. :) Needless to say not happy although due to the garage being made in the late 80's it was just soggy chip board and a few beems which did no damage to the mini but the seats that were on top of it are no with the big bin man in the sky.lol.

Most of the work that has been done has been the niggly bits. Got the steering coloumn and pedal box out, All been stripped and resprayed matt black with all new bolts.
Main ignition and control box for between driver is built:-

Attached File  Photo_0079.jpg   63.92K   29 downloads

Got new set of front and rear lights (Many Many thanks to blakey for those).
Hinges taken off bonnet and front lip drilled and lined up.
All holes now in dash including mounting points. Just waiting on securing bolts.
Half of sound deadening removed.
No piccies yet but due to mothers day am off home so will get them up soon.

yeah just read your thread Ted and the bean is looking very tidy, luckily the seats that were ontop of the mini when the roof went werent actually the ones destined for my project but a couple of older ones that i was gunna make a few office chairs out of.

Anyways

Got the weber box in and engine bay sprayed along with hubs, brakes, subframe stripped and painted. Got the new brake lines in and quick release engine mounts.

well to start with i'm just going to start with the standard 1275 with the weber for insurance purposes but then its off for a few modifications when the insurance comes down.

Anyways now that the interior is sprayed i striped down the engine, inspected it and found that the thermostat is well and truly shot. but while a new one is in the post i started to recondition the engine and some of its parts.

Right, although i may be back at uni once again drawing boats ive actually managed to get some more work done on the mini.
After quite a large bill at castle coombe for engine gaskets and parts i had to take apart the diff and use a 5 tonne fly press yo get the drive shaft out as the clip inside had somehow twisted sideways.
Now that this is done and the rest of the engine such as the timing cover and radiator cover have been cleaned and sprayed i can put the whole thing back together and back in the car hopefully next weekend.

On other fronts the bonnet has now been trimmed and drilled and the bonnet pins fitted, the cibie brackets are now on and so is the sump guard.
Hopefully be home next weekend so i can collect my camera and do some more work. :P

cheers ed, well i normally live just outside of gloucester so not that far. Once i finish it a rally photoshoot is definately on the cards!! although a rethink may have to be in order because i hear your after a polo engine which means you'd make me look incredible slow. ps may i suggest going for the g40 engine for that something extra,
