Right, been far too long since i updated my thread. Due to the fact that i live at uni at the mo not alot of work has been done on the car. Instead ive spent all my time and money buying stuff off the net and also minispares because its so close. Needless to say i am almost broke and am going home this weekend to pick up my holiday pay in cash from work, lol. On the plus side ive pretty much bought everything on my shopping list, lol. its finally down to one page although most of the items left are for the engine and transmission and very expensive so next year maybe. :D
Probably the most recent purchase currently in my posession (at least three things still in the post somewhere?) are my set of side mounted sparco sprint bucket seats. Hell i like em so much they're now my coffee time and thinking chairs until i can get them back home. lol
The only decision i am stuck on is cam choice. i want a good rally cam that is road manageable? looking at the kent 276-286, is it any good or is there a better alternative?
Should be adding more pics 2moro.

if you want a lairy cam in a road car may i suggest Megajolt Ignition so that you can tailor it to your needs and then it will be like a small kitten when in town traffic. look on YOU TUBE for a vid of a mini running MJ and a 300 cam (i think)

Thanks for the idea, after much research and a quick trip to the bank i have decided for something a little less lairy for now due to the budget constraints. Maybe in the next few years i will treat myself.lol
Right a few pics of my new seats, off the bay of course, lol. Didnt realise they came with subframes until i picked them up, was a nice surprise.lol

Umm sidemounts, makes it a lot easier than having to move the origional subframe mountings along the bulkhead so the seat was infront of the wheel and not too the right. Think im gunna stagger the seating and get the passenger as far back and as low down as possible.

New dash should be here this week thanks to turbotom, much appreciation!! so i can finally start on the gauge and instrumentation thats been bugging me in my head for ages now, lol.

While is was being called home to work last weekend i managed to sneak in a few hours on the mini.
Step one, cut out the bottom of the doors and made up a new plate and rivotted in place and gunna be welded up soon.
Attached File  Photo_0062.jpg   162.99K   22 downloads
Next up was cutting and trial fitting the new aluminium door cards, pretty close but need a bit more refining.
Attached File  Photo_0061.jpg   139.17K   34 downloads
Finally found some stainless and cut it and rivotted it to size ready to be seem welded into the weber box.

Soz for the quality of the pics but i managed to leave me camera in cov so phone only pics.

right, started fiddling around with the dash today (many thanks to turbotom!!) deciding upon the gauge and instrument arrangement.
After many tried options and lots of masking tape i decided upon this arrangement simply because it means i can reach the switches which will be mounted in the centre section while fully strapped into my seats and harnesses.

Only the switches and battery cut out switches to add then maybe the central instrument panel moved with the hazard and choke on.
Probably gunna make up a glovebox and mount the fuse boxes in there to keep it a little tidy.
Maybe time to take my final trip to minispares (i wish, lol)

right, were was i. after purchasing the little niggly bits such as battery cut off switches and switches for the dash. i managed to quickly visit a friend who works for a spray company who were re-stocking their shop so after a quick rummage through the skip i managed to emerge with 4 litres of blue two pack paint and a couple of litres of thinners. bargain. next task is to finish welding up the cage and then remove it ready for the painting of the interior and boot.
asked santa for a space heater for the garage over xmas but the way the weather is going may be cheaper to build a new garage.
right im off to the workshops in uni to start on the design of the hydraulic handbrake system.

blue was sorta in the race. was origionally going british racing green with orange roof and grill surround like the racing astons but now it seems to have changed into the red white and blue theme. got special one off idea for the roof lining but thats still under wraps.lol. although i was thinking bout getting a pic of michael caine blown up onto canvas so he would be looking down on me during those tricky moments.lol

Seats are comfy now i can get out the damn things. when i first got them i could get into them but because of my width shall we say i got up and the seat came with me, lol. 4weeks later and a annoying diet and i can finally appreciate them.lol

Right for the 52mm clocks ive got:-
fuel gauge
temp gauge
vacuum gauge
oil presssure gauge
oil temp gauge

i thinks thats all of them. gives people something to do other than destract me with talking while im driving.lol i like to keep an eye on every aspect of the engine.

Id love sum pics of ur brackets although mountings is a small problem, the emense weight of 2 cibies on each one means i may have to bend the laws of physics.lol

i must say bean that you've turned me to white wellers. they're definately the choice for rallying. although findin some 12x6 may take a while but we c what malvern throws up.lol

Also does anyone know if you're alloud to drive the nuhrburgring after dark?lol :)

right (he says while attempting to open his third bottle of wine with one hand, lol) im gunna email cibie and tell them that it would be in their best interest to open a cibie superstore somewere.lol.

blue body, white roof, door squares with numbers, red cibies, red cage, white alloys. aint decided on the interior yet.

I agree with you on the wheels. i loathe minilites as everyone has them and i want to be a little different.lol most people call me odd so my car must match.lol

cheers mate. i really want a sound system in my mini but am sticking to the hardcore rally route so ipod only im affraid. i have realised however that if set up correctly a good car sound system makes the best home surround sound ever. many complaints from the neighbours.lol
gunna be forsale soon to fund possible engine and gearbox parts.yay!!
