Alright my babber!

So chuffed this is nearly done buddy! Looks amazing mate, muchos respect, a hell of a lot of work has gone into that since I limped it home in the ******* rain with one rear light and half a wiper :gimme: Properly jealous, it's gotta be the dream (or nightmare in reality) to build your own mini up from the floor.

One thing I would say.... is that exhaust not gonna get absolutely clarted when you rally it? Looks to be hanging pretty low?

alrite my luver!!!

Mate it's taken twice as long as i thought, twice as much blood, swet, tears and swearing but it's worth it. At the moment the rear of the car is still setup for rallying with a lot of ground clearence which makes the exhaust 2 inches higher than the sump guard at the mo. Im going to use the motorbike cans for road use and if i do rally it i will put the old rally exhaust back on to meet scrutineering but at the moment it's going to be my daily drive. How's your mini coming along?

Unfortunately the origins of my brake light are unknown as it was found in the back of the garage while having a tidy up a few weeks back.

Thanks for the comments guys! maybe one day it will be worthy enough to grace the pages of a publication.
As for today, it's been a mixed bag.

Drove it down the road today and could only get 3rd and 4th, looked at father who looked at me and the same thing occured.
We installed the gear linkage without the gear stick and did we ever check the oriontation of the linkage was correct? computer syays no!
Bang, Bang, Bang roll pins out, refitted linkage the correct way up, Goes like a steam train.

New heater matrix in place but decided to install upside down and drill the box so that the pipes come out of the passenger side.
Heater plumbed back in and all is good.
Brakes bled but still a bit of air somewhere due to bit of a spongy pedal syndrome.

Tried wiring in the voltage stabiliser to the gauges but no joy so far although on further inspection my fuel tank sender unit doesn't float anymore.
grrrr......

got the custom passenger footrest in place with the washer bottle housed underneath, one quick coat of paint.

Plumbed in the windscreen tubes and got the wipers mounted.

Will try and get a few piccies up later.

sorry its been so long folks.

The last few months have been very testing. Well it all began the day before castle coombe........
I had to work in coventry that day so our dad dropped it down to the garage to have all the tracking and lights and stuff done ready for the 2nd MOT.
Failed the 1st dramatically on emissions.
Anyways i get home around half 7 to find me dad still in his work gear sat in front of the mini with some wet and dry rubbing away.
Naturally i say what's going on here then? scratch it?
much worse he says.
After the wheel alignment they had got the measurements on the distances between the centres of the wheels wrong with the passenger side about an inch further forward. unfortunately dad came round a corner on full lock, hit a manhole cover and the wheel caught the arch and ripped half of it off.
a bit of filler, a lot of sanding and a quick touch up and she was ready to go for coombe.

Left early for coombe, overfueling massively which meant cutting out when stationary which was a little embarissing.
throttle pedal got jammed open a few times due to slight pincj from clumsy cable handling, my bad!!
Rev gauge being tempramental due to loose wire.
and half way there the speedo stopped working, doesn't register speed anymore, only the miles.

Was at coombe for all of maybe half an hour before a loss in the family meant i had to leave. left the mini there in spirit and picked it up later. Thanx again to everyone who organised the event.

Anyways the family problems are done, thought to myself, mini time this wkend!!

But instead i've ended up in delft, holland on buisness till next sunday.

but i do have some in car very noisy footage and some 'on the road' pictures that i will post up when i get home.

I'v just gone through this whole thread. What a lovely car. I really like what you have done with the heater hoses. Also with your dash. Have you got the center console bit that goes with it or just the top bit?

just read through your post to see how you got on with your front mounted radiator but noticed you put a standard type in instead, just out of interest how come you never did the front type.
