I see whta you mean.... as long as its not simply a sheet of alloy with holes drilled in.... or a massive piece of mesh...

perhaps go for a works type one? the lightwieght ones they had on the monte's...

EDIT: i have a book somewhere about the works cars, it says in there what grill they used form some other BMC car to make the one above... ill have a look...

Right i've been quite busy recently and things are progressing well. The grill is on, then had to rewire the spots due to the fact that i put the wires through the slam panel forgetting that the bonnet shuts on it! Rookie mistake!!
Breather system is in place along with the wiper assembly and clutch assembly. Rear parcel shelf is finally secured along with rear lights, fuel tank and fuel pump fitted.
Dash almost finished with switches and vents. Jst needs spraying.
The plan is to have it running within the next seven days!!

Pics to follow soon

Thanks ed, the number plate is an issue which i am trying to resolve but at the moment it is quite far down on my list of jobs as im going back to uni on sunday so want to get as much of the wiring finished as possible.

On the note of wiring, grrrr is all i can say. although all the lights in the dash now work but knowing not alot about electronics makes for a steep learning curve and slow progress.

Have currently popped home for a few days so progress is back on. Doors and boot all finished and on along with most of the extra fittings. Forgot how annoying putting all the door mechanisms back together can be. Many c clips flying through the air.
Will be offering up and fitting the door cards using riv nuts tomorrow so hopefully more pictures soon.

I'm liking the engine bay mate!
Explain again what you've done to get the heater pipes through the bulkhead please - that looks rather neat. :(

Hi there. Thanks for the comments.

In response i first cut two holes through a piece of rectangular aluminium that were just big enough for the brass plumbing fittings to fit through but not the securing washers that tighten up on them. This plate was then mounted to the bulkhead using industrial sealer and then the holes drilled through the bulkhead. Take the securing nuts off the brass fitting. Slide it into place and then put the nuts back on each end and tighten them up.
I believe the fittings are mainly used on internal plumbing and neumatic systems for securing lines through steel plate and walls. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments. The door cards are made from aircraft grade aluminium and the material was origionally purchased from a pilot in scotland who was going for a two year tour to afghanistan and was selling off his unfinished mini project in parts so all i had to do was finish off the edges and cut the remaining holes out. The seats if i remember are sparco sprint v's. They are quite comfy and look great but are quite narrow.

Got a bit more done today. Feels like i spent most of the day putting spiral band on the wiring going to the back of the car puts it was worth it.
Wiring has again been the order of the day but we are getting there slowly.
On the theme of tidying the engine bay up a bit more some extra electrical gromet fixings were added to tidy up the wiring by the wiper motor.
Battery cables were finished and are now in place running through the car to the cut off switch and then into the engine bay to the starter motor.

Holes drilled

As my final project briefing is on monday i have to head back up to coventry tomorrow so i do not know when the next update will be. But im addicted now so hopefully will be able to get a weekend off soon and get back home in the garage.
