Looks like a really good conversion, as you have cut the bulkhead with the k11 1.3 engine, can the brake master cylinder stay in the same place? Also im guessing its a cable clutch?

Also with the k11 1.3 do you think it would be possible to move it forward slightly and change the angle the engine sits to clear the bulkhead?

exactly micras are cheap around here, and with some choice modds will put out 100 BHP to get that froma n a series means some very expensive mods , it just seems a nice cheapp conversion, ok not with the power of a vtec or redtop but if i do this it will be the most powerful car have driven (ashamed) so i dont need 160bhp >_<)))

i think this would be a good engine for a mini, and you get a five speed box thrown in free !!!!

is it worth while going for a later 1.4 (1348) engine and spending a bit more when you only get 5 more hp? just a thought, thanks mike

how did it go? the first cut is always d hardest,,,,,,

No I didnt' cut it, lol
I've been hunting for a second subframe so i mock everything up. Once i find a frame, Ill be getting on
with it.
Yeah guys, the bulkhead needs cutting but it doesn't look too drastic.

bigchief - what size (diameter & thickness) are the engine mounts you used for the Micra & Starlet engines?

the mounts are 2.5 inches in dia. it seems as though everytime i buy a batch of mounts they are of slightly different thickness from maybe 1.5 to 2 inches thick

in alot of the earlier pics the wings are intact and ABSOLUTELY do not need to be harmed. i mentioned earlier that only one body mod is needed in the bulkhead, note that lateral strength is re-introduced by the stout piece of rectangular tubing between towers. by not making a box there are no corners for stresses to concentrate, just a semi circular indentation. i have recent pics that i'll elaborate with later in the week

yes the brake master remains (not hinged booster though). cable clutch pulls from behind pedal. moving the engine forward will change driveshaft departure angles to wheels and induce weird gearchanges. a better idea is defn to tilt the engine forward about the axis of the axles. not too much because of sump issues, i find its safer to do the bulkhead.

100hp with is CG should be attained with a janspeed 4 2 1, de-cat and cold air intake.

the only advantage is tat its newer. the disadvantages include they are rarer, some parts are differen and the wiring is alot more difficult for a transplant. wudnt do it for 5 hp.
guys, theres alot of engine info for the micra, do's and don'ts and specs on the micra forums like 'micra sports club' and 'cisco's micra files'. have a good read
looking forward to hearing some good progress from u guys, later!

electric fan, its embedded in the original mini shroud. any electric fan that fits with high amperage and blows in the correct direction is fine.

Hi all one for Bigchief I think I see you have been using the MA10, CG10 and the CG13 engines. Do you know if the MA12 engine will fit because I read somewhere that it is about 10mm taller because of the extra stroke.
Would prefer to use this engine at the moment to try and keep things a little simpler (no ecu to worry about).
Would like to get a set of bike carbs on it to give it a bit more, but thats another project.

Definatley want to give this a go.

Thanks Nige
