ok..........well you guys got me excited once again.
i must share with you our latest installation.
this car belongs to proud TMF member, minidude1000
it is an actual upgrade on his MA10 engine which has gone strong for the last three years.
he has chosen to stay 1000cc. (maybe he doesn't want to change his screen name, lol) going with the 16valve CG10.
he has had the manifold made using that of his last engine as well as the dizzy.
as usual here are some teaser shots as my friend has not yet seen the final install either:

hi big cheif, my question is about alternators:

I know that you usually place them above the head on the left hand side, but what do you use to deflect the belt around the 'camshaft buldge' that can be seen in the pictures, i think if i do this without an idler pulley of similar the belt will just rub on this! What do you guys use?

thanks

A photo of bigcheifs work on page 14 of this very thread gives you an idea.

As you can see he's added a small idler pulley on a slotted bar. Easy peasy.

I think ford focuses have wee baby idler pulleys, best bet is to have at it in the scrappers. Your sure to find a small enough one.

think i have worked out a way to do this without an idler pulley, hopefully progress to come will see if this will work or not!

Good Evening all,

Does anyone have the lengths of the driveshafts for the 1L CG10 engine conversion with the small 1L 5 speed gearbox.

With Ian's help I have a fellow 16v forum member who will fabricate a set for me if I supply the raw materials - 4 driveshafts which I have but I need the lengths.

Can anyone help me ?

Cheers

Andrew

Hi Andy

I can tell you my driveshaft lengths although i doubt they will be of any use to you since the engine position and size is probably different!

I would seriously suggest measuring them yourself as no 2 conversions are going to be the same.

If you require help with measuring give me a shout and ill tell you the method i used!

and some finished shots of the engine bay.
its ironic that the carb'd version looks as if it were injected............while the injected ones are sworn as being carb'd

Hi Big

This is the frame i am doing for a customer very similar to yours! this has been in the car a few times and we have had to move the engine very slightly from our first positioning, this will be back with the customer for the next two weeks, then i hope we can have it back for final finishing. Might even make a few more frames while we are at it if there is enough interest

This first one was in the making after first time with the customer

The ones below are how it has gone back out tonight
