I was thinking of seeing a bit of the country this Summer, planning to sleep in the mini. Didn't get around to it, but I realised as I was undoing a bolt lying on my back inside the car that plan may just work if I take out the passenger seat, pad out around the crossmember, and sleep in a "L" shape.
What's the legalities of sleeping in your car? Can you do it anywhere?

The other week I found myself sleeping in my mini, not the most comfortable thing to do when your 6ft, but lessons were learnt:
1: Seat as far back as it will go and reclined all the way back.
2: Legs across the car into the passenger foot well (Careful of the gear knob)
3: Keep warm
I was very glad I had left a sleeping bag in the car as it was freezing, and I found a pillow as well!
as above but leave a window open.
usually to consider sleeping in the mini I'm either completely spanked on magners or at a show and its raining.
either way its good to let the fumes / condensation dissipate.

I seen a class mini in a magazine with a roof box which had been converted into a bed
You mean a Maggiolina roof tent I think, not a roof box. Hardly a new idea but not really a good one for most adults either, the maximum roof load for a Mini is 50 kg.

Pah, I can sleep in a mini no problems, my fave is usually foetal position on the back seat!!
When i was locked out of my house in the early hours after work because my bro didnt leave the door open as i asked i slept like this in the mini, wasnt a good night rest, i had bucket seats and harnesses. Used the cushion you sit on as a pillow and lucky had my uni lab coat in the boot so i had a cover of sorts - - was freezing cold, and a little pi***d off at my bro.

I sleep on Vern's backseat and the fit is quite good even with Newrocks. His spare kitchen roll as a pillow = sorted. I've had to do this several times in my happy ownership and have been caught cold handed:
(P.S. I'm not actually living in Vern like a tramp, honest)
