Yet another teaser... My sister had to move the cage out of the way so she could mow my lawn for me (isn't she lucky) and because it was a nice day and the sun was out I took some close up shot of the roll cage with the sun shining on it... it looks

Yeah twin engine caterham thing is unreal. Pretty sure i saw Tiff in it few years ago setting some 0-60 record (something like 2.6s - redicuous)... but then he put a conrod straight through the wall of the block!

Hey I have a question. After thinking about this Hayabusa engine swap idea. Can I do a front mounted FWD engine? How much do the Hayabusa's and R1's make stock? How reliable would it be. And could I do it my self after I get my welding skillz up? Or could I use the same frame? Sorry to jack the thread right quick but might beeasier to get answers in here. PM me if anyone knows anyhting or IM me on AIM.

Thanks,
Derek

The colour is apperently Pearlesant Cadbury purple. Unfortunately i have no idea about anything other than the name. It was one of the colour options from Z-cars (i thought it was the best and so did Pete).

I have tried explaining the colour the car is going to be to a few people and they look at me as if I've gone mad but I am sure it will look stunning. So I'll now just say it'll be different and leave it at that. You can then make your own mind up when it's done. :cheese:

As for a FWD conversion I'm afraid I just don't know enough about it to offer you too much advice. I would drop Chris at Z-cars an email as he will pretty much put a bike engine in anything!!!

Oh yeah.... Hyabusa makes about 180BHP and is a 1300 so is the torquier engine whereas the R1 makes 172BHP but is only a 998 so won't have as much torque but is a bit lighter.

All I know is I've been out in an R1 powered mini and at no time did the thought "mmmm this is bit slow could do with some more power" go through my mind

Wow, thats cheap. But that question was mainly aimed at AlBurglar, sorry, wrong thread really.

I'm 22. I got a quote when I was 21 with two years no claims. At that time Adrian Flux quoted me fully comp with the hyabusa engine £450.

Not bad considering the year before I was paying £1500 on a bloody 1.4 clio sport just with alloys and body kit!

I have talked alot to www.rallysportreplicas
Because I considered an R1 engine as a FWD option in my minus, before I bought the 1380.
In any setup, FWD or RWD. They do not suffer from any torque steer.
Don't forget that 170bhp is max power but is delivered very predictibaly in an R1 lump.
You will have to extend your bonnet, which is something I was not prepared to do to my minus, so A series was the only option.
... But only because I couldn't afford another z cars kit!
