Will almost certainly take it one of these day but not until teething probs sorted....

Also info for anyone building one. The fuel tank is not as big as you might initially think..... I filled it up yesterday before taking it for the mot. It was just under quarter of a tank and took £13 to fill it up :nugget: So I'm guessing that it's a 20ltr tank....

Final weight all in was 591kilos with a 47% front 53% rear weight distribution.

A little heavier than I hoped but I wanted to retain those creature comforts like seats and windows and bulkhead etc etc (Dale before you say anything  )

But ultimately with myself (102kgs) And Chris from Z-cars (120kgs) in it, it's still quick enough to scare the bejesus out of me so I'm more than happy!!!!!

At 591Kg, and an estimated 160bhp that equates to a nice round 270bhp/tonne.

Here are some comparisons:

M3 E46 - 218 bhp per ton
M3 CSL E46 - 234 bhp per ton
r32 - 160 bhp per ton
Porsche 911 c2 - 234 bhp per ton
Porsche 911 turbo - 272 bhp per ton
Audi RS6 - 244 bhp per ton
Audi RS4 - 234 bhp per ton
Audi TT 3.2 - 164 bhp per ton

some way to go yet though: Maclaren F1 - 550 bhp per ton (!!!!)

Mine has a passenger seat, I took it out at Shakespeare because they wouldnt let a passenger ride in the car. Was also MOT'd and still fully road legal!

I dont see the point in using it as a road car as you will never use that sort of performance on the road, unless you are totally irresponsible!! And always worried of leaving it parked somewhere or it going wrong, not exactly my idea of a practical everyday car! Besides, i have the elise as a fast road car so the mini will just be used on the track, 1/4 mile, hillclimbs etc..

Are you planning on doing any trackdays in yours or just use it for pottering around?

How is the reverse, any good or do you shoot backwards like on the dvd?

I always intended mine for fast road occasional track use.... Hence retaining some practicalities.

The reverse is actually not that bad. Comes in with a bit of a "thunk" but then settles into a nice steady reversing pace.

I'm not sure you can..... but I could be wrong. :dontgetit:

Anyway small update.

Did a spot of fibreglassing work to patch up some bits I didn't like under the bonnet

Painted a few bits under the bonnet.

Re-bled the brakes again! now got a really firm peddle and great stopping power!!

Tightened gear lever bolt

Adjusted rev counter so it reads correctly

On the bad side discovered that the three little brackets that had been fibreglassed to the bodyshell to hold up the rear part of the bulkhead didn't like it where they are!! :dontgetit: Fortunatley the two other brackets riveted to the rollcage held fast. Just means that I don't want to drive it until I've re firbeglassed it as knowing my luck it'd drop into the chain and not be much fun at all..... :nugget:

So unfortunatley no more videos just yet!

But hopefully very soon!!
