Started when I got home from work to discover that the (alledegly unhelpful see other thread if you don't know what I mean) Z-cars had sent me a replacement crack shaft sensor (free of charge I might add!! even though we didn't get the engines from them!!!! well above and beyond excellent custmer service!!)
So I threw that in the engine so that when Pete arrived with my wiring loom we could start him up!

Pete arrives loom connected starts.......... only firing on three cylinders! :nugget:
To cut a long story short the rest of evening was spent trying to chase the fault around and got nowhere

What we have since discovered is that it would appear that the other sensor that I'm missing seems to have forced the ecu into a "safe mode" which causes the engine to miss on one of its cylinders!!!

So typically this is the most expensive sensor of the two I was missing

But it runs just sounds poop!! But once the other sensor arrives hopefully we'll be back on track....

At this rate MITP is an almost certain no.Yeah, whatever
!
How long till we can hear/see it!!
(is it gonna be at MITP?)

And I can guarantee that no-one wants to hear this run properly more than me! So I'm sorry if my (and Petes) hours of labouring are an inconveinience to you

Being a project thread I'm trying to offer anyone else doing this kind of thing some (hopefully useful) info.

After testing Ade's ecu on my engine I had the same problem. After resetting the ecu it seemed to work ok on mine so hopefully Ade's will be ok when we try it again Sunday.

But Basically the dash is now bonded in, the replacment glass for the wing mirrors is now fitted, the windscreen is in, the replacement caliper is now on (will have to wait and see if it leeks so fingers crossed).
Hopefully the header tanks will arrive this week and with a bit of luck will have the new sensor I need aswell.
But and this is typical! My friend who got married got me a present for being the best man! Great gift which I'm really chuffed with but will mean that another weekend for working on the mini is slipping by...... He's got me a pair of full weekend full roaming tickets for the BSB at Silverstone this weekend!!

But I'm taking friday off work so I can at least try and get stuff done and not fall even further behind! :nugget:
