Pete

Give us the lowdown on how it went at Bruntingthorpe, did you go?? (And be honest)

Yes I went and no it didn't go well >:D . The vtec mini had been rushed to finish it and had a problem with the brakes locking so wasn't really a good idea to thrash it around a track. The bike engined car was the blue one that was for sale(the one that cost £32 grand, now sold for £24). This didn't have the front frame so didn't bother having a go in that.
Did manage to speak to Bill Sollis who drove both cars. He wasn't convinced that the front end on the vtec car was any better than the other one on the track.

Good news is that I did get the other Minus with it's front and rear frames and gsxr1000 engine. Also got Ade's subframe although it is missing some bits so haven't bothered trying to bolt it together yet. The shocks sit front to back same as the a-series frame.

It was the white deseamed mini. Rear mounted 2ltr vtec. Looked very stable when Bill was throwing it around but he obviously wasn't totally happy with the set up.

All four. It wasn't using a mini master cylinder and the one that was on it was the wrong size so wasn't allowing fluid to pass back to release the pressure. Chris tried to modify it at the track but still wasn't working properly.

I believe it was the same set up as he uses for all his cars. It was only the master cylinder at fault though. Brakes worked fine to start with and then the pedal would go solid and lock them on. Shame because I was looking forward to having a go to compare the vtec to the bike engine.
I think Chris is giving rides around Oulton Park soon so will have to try and get there for a go.

Hi Ade / Pete,
Spotted the pic of the 'class green machine' in mini world and checked out this site 'because of the sun visor strip...
After trawling through the whole project thread i had to register on the site to tell you guys, prob nothing ye haven't heard before, but that car is 'Truly A Work Of Art' ..... It is one of the meanest yet most beautiful sights i've seen in a long time... well done...

i spoke to chris at the autosport show and asked about the single master cylinder for the brake setup but as he hadnt tried the car he couldnt comment but at least we all know the outcome now.
As for oulto park it's only down the road from me so we could all meet up there???

Cheers

Yeah what a car. Amazing. How did you manage to build that?

Oh, hang on. Wasn't there 2 cars in the article . Oh, and weren't they both built by the same person. And it wasn't Ade.

Goes back to his garage to continue building the next bike powered minus.

Next improvement for the minus is new tubular front subframe. Currently sits in my garage awaiting fitting. Ade hasn't seen it yet.
