did a couple of little jobs. re attached the other engine steady. and also removed the dizzy drive spindle. i have used the dizzy to keep the hole sealed for now until i get a proper blank from MRA minis.

must hve made me at least .5 hp!!!

also rewrote the ignition map for my MJ, ever since i fitted it the 32-1 wheel was always a little out so i measured it and found the wqheel was set at 6-8BTDC which means if i have 12 set it will actually be 18!!! so i have adjusted the map by six in every box. i will upload tomorrow(sunday) and try it out.

Also tomorrow i will hopefully finish and fit my cooper s brake setup. just the ball joints to do which i have already lapped in. then just a case of whacking it all on the car!! LOL

you can see where i had to mod the rad bracket a little to fit this steady.(steady cam as part of the engine) I have used a different config for the rad and tstat housing as the old one had the inlet going toward the rear of the car.

just showing the coil(not there) and the dizzy being used basically as a bung. yes i know the wiring needs tidying!

Also going to try and figure out what the hell type of leccy pump i have fitted in the rear subby. it works but i have it disconnected at the moment. might start using it though.

well i did a bit more dismantling tonight.

jacked up on all four corners. removed wheels. removed front hubs complete. removed one rear drum and found leaky wheel cylinder(funny old thing) still have to get other one off but it has rusy screws holding the drum on and my drill is at work. looks like another order with minispares is coming up!!

another order with the best mini company in the world.

new suspension including hilo's shocks and donuts and knuckles. and more rubber seals, and new rear shoes and cylinders to replace the leaky ones!!

Now i will have new brakes and suspension all round and new seals all round which also means i can fit my headlining aswell.

Also bought some roof/window flashing tape 9 inches wide and 30 feet long, 2 rolls for 97 cents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not sure why it was soooo cheap but i paid up and left, even the woman on the till was baffled, but a barcode never lies so meh!

stripped the car of all its brakes and shock absorbers tonight, in prep for the new stuff coming. still need to build up the ball joints on the new hubs though.

also need to get the other block to a machine shop to get the overbore done and the holes blocked up, ready for the bmw head. which once i have done the +80 overbore may possibly just fit the valves without needing any pockets.

today i faffed for ages with the ball joint shims and got nowhere!!! i stripped the four spare drum brake hubs i have so that i now have loads of shims! more work on that tomorrow.

went to the back of the car and removed the shocks and trumpets and donuts in prep for the new stuff coming. cant do the front till i get the tool i also ordered.

also decided to do the bold thing of cutting a hole in a perfectly good panel and fitting my RH tank. just need a rubber tank neck thingy(anyone got one going spare for free 20 dollars here!!!!!!) and a bit of fuel hose and i can plumb it in. need to strap it down somehow aswell.

tomorrow i might put some of the flashing tape on the inside roof in prep for when i have all my rubber seals and see if i can fit my headlining.Might start that anyway as the car is off teh road for a while anyway so may aswell pull all the windows.

and of course i will have another go at the ball joints. might just put them on a bit loose and then take a shim out in a few weeks?

left a cheque on the door and the ups man obliged yesterday while i was out drinking at parties. so i now have a load of nice shiny new suspension parts.

fitted the new bootlid rubber tonight. what a nightmare, it is really hard with teh metal clip things but it looks much better than the crusty melted one that was on there. Found a few rust spots on the bottom of the boot lid aswell so i will have to deal with them at some point . but the beauty of having a garage and living in a damn hot country means i can leave it for now!! need to look out for a second hand welder, so i can do a few minor rust repairs
