That engine looks tasty
Shame about the rust/filler nasties. I know how crap you feel when you find it. Feels good getting new panels in there though knowing its going to be sound for many years.

tuktuks pickup was like that with filler. Best thing to do is strip it all back and see why its there. Its that or live not knowing?
Even if you have to refill it, you know whats under it and that the car isnt going to fall apart or even worse in a crash....

Big panel order just put in. rear hinge panel closing panels, valance, bott floor repair panel, rear arch panels, new sills, etc etc. not as cheap as minispares but easier from a shipping point of voew and they have a 20% off discount on at the moment as well. www.7ent.com
gonna get this done and back on the road asap as i only have 1 year left here in the states!!
oh yeah and i need to finish building the engine!! nearly there though just need to get teh pistons back from the machine shop. and get the cam bearings sorted so the jackshaft runs smoothly

I have put in a week of leave so i could try and get the mini almost done from a welding point of view.
Right then, first off i have finally managed to get a good weld with my gasless cheapo welder so i have been cracking on.
Flipped the mini on its side(on my own!!) and started cleaning the bottom. decide to replace the sill although it wsnt rusty it had a big dent in it and the other side is defo being replaced so i wanted the sills to match. Cut/drilled /went and bought a spot weld cutter/cut some more and then tidied up and sparyed some rust converter paint on to the areas i could get to with the wire brush.
pics:
Anyone know what the bolt hole on either end of the sill are for?

The pic of the old sill looks like what we took off Vern.
Heck you've been busy!! Still going for the May deadline?
Keep up the good work, looks cracking what you've done so far
