hey miniboo, just ordered my k100 head to mess about with lunchtimes at work.. so still new to this stuff, and got a real soft spot for small bores.

when you blanked the bores to dry deck the block, what did you use to do this.. have read abut using cast iron plugs screwed in but also heard of them being abit soft when it comes to re-drilling the new head studs.. possibly use ms bolts tapped into the block and machined away.

or were yours a press fit,

cheers gaz

Hi boo...just starting to collect parts for my own k conversion and this has been fascinating reading, well done mate. do you know of anyone who has done the k conversion and is using carbs instead of throttle bodies. am not a fan of ecu's and modern electronics?

@clubman katie: Yeah Gregg Temkin did the first ever conversion and he used carbs as he didnt want to spend out on teh ecu injection gubbins etc. I am probably going to start with carbs as i got some for 20 dollars and i have run out of money for an ECU at teh moment. I will be going with EFI eventually though.

Clubman Katie look here: http://www.lojomo.com/

@the soon to be:The block getting blocked at steel push fit inserts with nasty 620 loctite to make sure they defo stay in. Some were screwed in obviously where the original stud holes were. and the others were interference push fit.

Hmm long time no update......

Well as its the new year i have decided to actually do something!! i have stripped out the interior and rear windows and started to look at the rust. some parts fo the car are mint and others have had lots of filler hiding some nasties. shouldnt need to much work but the boot is the worst.

Still might take it to the blasters. but i am not sure.

Also i have had my head uder cleaned/blasted and had all the valves lapped in etc etc.
