more progress pics. I have been a cheapskate and made all my own gaskets for the master cylinders and brackets onto the bulkhead. i am actually proud of the way they came out.

Thise wiper holes look a better design than the UK models - and only one pair too! Seems there was some well thought out mods to those Oz shells.

Have decided to put the whole spare engine and head etc into the mini so that i can do a mock up of bits and pieces, like the alternator mount, water outlet from the head, battery holder mount.

Here are some pics. i put some bling on for you so that it looks a bit nicer!!

Just been to the machine shop and now i feel SICK. they have machined cutouts into the bores for the ex valve but they go down 300 thou. the top ring on the piston is at 250 thou so i need to find 50 thou from somewhere or it aint never gonna happen.

Options were: 1. buy some new pistons- not going to happen as i know of none that have a bigger ring land.
2. offset the little end on the rods downwards by 50 thou and that should give us the amount needed.

Yes thats right we are doing (machine shop) number 2 and that means more custom maching and more expense.

Hopefully it will be all done by the end of next week or so.

You could alternatively get a cometic multilayer gasket made up. I had one made for my KAD head as I wanted 60thou instead of the usual 30 thou to get the compression back down. Basically they just add extra layers to increase the thickness. I know they can go higher if you want to. I've seen 120 thou ones..... But need to check what effect it will have on your compression ratio and get pistons to suit.

Just a thought..

Kind regards,

David
