Bad news and Good news.
Bad news first: was out in the mini today and we broke down. AAA came and collected the car and dropped us back at the house. Had to push it up the drive while my 6 year old son steered!!
Good news: this means i will now step forwards and take the engine out which also gives me a kick up the bum to sort the "other" engine out!!
on first looks from stripping the ancillaries off(rad fan etc) it looks as though the crank bolt has come undone. which meant the nut holding the trigger wheel on had jammed up against the lower rad mount. hopefully i havent done any damage to the trigger wheel and bits that hold it on!! So all my own fault really!!
hopefully tomorrow after work i will be able to make an engine hoist bracket and get the engine out.
In the second close up pic you can see the trigger wheel at a jaunty angle!

build gearbox.
machine pistons for cutouts and also sedge of cylinder wall.
buy and fit exhaust manifold.
buy and fit ECU
Buy and fit clutch assembly
Sort out the injection fuel setup.(incorporating twin tanks)
setup the whole engine once the piston cutouts have been done.
to be honest i have almost everything i need just need to buy some of the more major components and have sone work done on the pistons and block and then bolt it all together and throw it in!!!!!

Slam panel is a godsend and i thik is standard Aus design. double fan /pump pulley thing is from when it had a "fresh air pump" the emissions buster thing. it was removed long before i got the car.

I havent had much time to work on the mini recently but i have been making a bit of progress. So after pulling the engine i decided to clean up and paint the engine bay area.
And i thought i would put in a gratuitous eye candy shot of a nice plane i saw at my flying club open evening.

It looks orange in the pics but it is actually "cardinal red". i chose something cheap and easy to get hold of for when i get the outside resprayed.
