I thought I read somewhere that it is possible to fit a distributor to an MPi engine, allowing it to be used as a normal carb and dizzy engine.

Can anybody confirm this is correct?

possibly. but you would need to machine the block to accept the dizzy, change the camshaft so it has the distributor drive gear on it and possibly change a few other things.

I was afraid you were going to say that. I thought I read the dizzy hole was simply blanked off and a standard cam used, I guess not.

Yep, MPi block, no dizzy, not even a slim chance of trying to fit one.

You are thinking of the SPI, The SPi block just a plain ordinary A + block

Why do you ask this, out of interest?

yeah run the mpi with no dizzy, using a megajolt ecu, but use a carburettor for fuelling. at least you wont suffer from wet dizzy problems.

Will never ever pass the MPi emissions, and there would be no way of hiding the fact its an MPi block either
