I cant find any breathers on the crank, in fact on the engine anywhere. can someone tell me where to look or does anyone have an adaptor pipe for fitting one to the area with the blanking plate

cheers KC

You got a 998. Then the breather comprise of the "black can" type on the tappet chest and the oil filler cap is a breather. The black can should be on the rad end of the engine but where the tappet are.

As adam says it should already be vented anyway. :)

You can if you feel the desire to but it wont really change anything

I dont feel a desire to fit one I want to make sure the condition of the engine is not compromised by something I could easily have recified.
By the way, it is clear you like nothing better than to belittle anyone who challenges you in a topic or relays an opinion.
I for one do not care for this behavior and would ask that if you reply to something I have posted or replied to in the future you refrain from pointless jibes and sarcasm. It is not welcome.

wasn't intended to be sarcasm.. a lot of racers do it to gain performance.. but it changes very little.

Do I really come across as a racer looking to improve performance... in a 998 auto??? I just needed a slip of advice so that I do not incur any damage. Nothing more.

For all i know you could be a green Martian with a fetish for pink feathers for all i care!

it may be a 998 auto but that doesn't mean anything.. this forum should have told you that much by now. With all sorts of weird and wonderful s going into them. Including tuned 998s.

I offered my advice... Short and simple.

Take it how you like!

Well the breather helps to remove built up gases in the bottom of the engine.

Some people say it helps stop leaks and all sorts.

Got a spare in my garage if you want it. Might take me a while to post.

Your advice has been anything but short, you have only replied to insult me.

Finally, a knight, where have you been, Ive been totally lynched by the sarcasm brigade here.....
Any help you can offer would be greatly recieved, I am in no rush but I want to do the best I can to keep the engine alive for as long as possible.
Much appreciated... KC

I'll give you a PM when I get my next car.

Or when you sling me your address. Do need to go posties soon as I've got to send some cash off for a set of cooper s 7.5 discs.

The breather will need a clean with some white spirit. Once connected (they connect to the side of the car via a long black tube)

See the big black tube that goes over the rocker cover. Thats the pipe you'll need. You can just use some big bore fuel pipe for it. Or even some garden house.

an extra breather is not needed on an 998 engine, the standard one should suffice. if you are worried about your engine get someone to clean out your breather, and give the engine a check over.
