Has anyone fitted a floor mounted pedal box to there mini to keep the master cylinders inside the car? Maybe as a race setup. Or has anyone got a photo of one fitted?

not so likly to happen in a mini, the floor monted box's are usualy put in cars with flat floors where the windscreen height is low and the driver also sits lower down and further back

you can get KAD brake bias box, basicly 2 cylinder one to front 1/2 other for the rear, i had a twisting knob on the dash and as you turn it pulls the bar for the bias each way adjusting bias front to back
and heres a piccy of mine

so how does that plumb in then? does it just go direct to the discs at the front and then teh drums at the back?

do you need any of the fam valves etc?

on mine iv got braded brake lines from the box, goes to a T piece split then attached to the subby, its then got different braded lines to the calliper (which are brake specific goodrich types, just the same as when people usualy get braded brake lines)

to the rear split, in the system i have a verticle hydrailic hand brake (for turns  )
Posted Image

basicly it the same line to the rear put just goes through the HB system, when it isnt pulled fluid just flows as normal and when pulled it doesnt develop pressure forward of the HB and only locks the rears

the braded line is also split on the rear subframe as usual sort of fassion then again to normal goodrich hoses which have the right thread on the end to go to the drum cylinder

I was thinking of this one.

Posted Image

Space is at a bit of a premium as its taken up by the throttle bodies and air filter

This was taken a while ago. Ive got a pedal mounted master cylinder for the brakes with a remote reservoir at the moment. i want to run a hydraulic clutch as well.

I know its not floor mounted but how about something like this? doesnt look like it takes up much space, but then i dont know how much space you have available.

for floor mounted these look rather nice?

aah...riiight yeah cant see KAD set up fitting, floor mounted ones... depends how far back you want to sit to where which u could place the pedel box flat on the floor, you will then get seating and steering wheel issues tho

Iv got exactly the same problem mate. My throttle boddies are going to be in the way. Iv been looking at an internal pedal box with remote maters. 16 Valve mini shop does one I think.

oh also, what clutch you running? hydraulic or cable? different things to consider remember

remember it might be a little tricky to route the wiering for the accel as you might have to get custom as standard jobbie might not adapt your pedel box or engine also unlikly to be long enough

ian curley had a set of floor mounted pedals in his miglia

Posted Image

it can be done but the resevoirs (sp) have to be remotely located (hence you can see the hoses run up the bulkhead).. the cylinders are mounted directly to the box. which is a problem especially in a mini as they stick out a fair bit so they need to be moved further to the rear of the car

*cough* final year uni project *cough*

designed for out 206 race car..

i thought all mini's were hydraulic????? therefore making the installation a little easier

brakes - hydraulic master cylinder replaced with cylinder mounted behind pedal

clutch - hydraulic cylinder also replaced with cylinder mounted behind pedal

acclerator.. - the tricky part in my view.. see curleys drawing above, the outer cable can be clamped to the body, which is the easy part. but in lehmans terms. the pulling motion has to be translated into a pushing motion (pedal).,.
so i think a pivot method like curleys is an easy way to over come this...

the remote resevoirs could then be bolted where-ever on the car... will try and dig out a pic of where Bill Sollis mounted his

yeah minis were hydraulic run, but that engine isnt mini engine, and a some metro's ran cable clutch i believe

as for accel cable, if the pivot point is moved up, so theres a bottom continuation of the arm the cable can run fromthe bottom, we had this in project vehicle in college, same principle except these were verticle mounted. just have to think if it protrudes to where the foot should be, can be over come with pedel design tho

unless theres a way of running electric throttle, setting up a position sensor on the accel pedel, input to ECU infiguring where is it, then on throttle bodys a stepper motor would open the butterfly a certain amount determined by ECU...long way round but some VERY good engineering if done and shoud work...never worry about snapped acel cable aswell lol

You can run the Vauxhall gearboxs with hydralic clutches. Again all the parts can be obtained from Alssped or 16valve mini shop.

Ive got an F18 hydraulic wide ratio gearbox. Ive also DTH throttle bodies so they dont stick out as far as yours do with an inlet manifold. I'm going to fit some stumpy stacks on it and fit the thinest ITG air filter (JC50-25) ive got 2 new master cylinders and they will fit just nice in the normal place. I need to get a standard mini pedal box now and will be selling my Allspeed converted pedal box in a few weeks.
